Just that really - after a long time of not playing what is there now, in game, that has been added in the last few years, that might entice me back.

Many thousands of hours between 2005-2008/9 - mainly pve - I sort of lost the urge when going for more titles for HoM.

Should I come back and beef up my two main chars - (monk and ranger) just to get ready for GW2?
Will it be worth it?

Should I get latest chapter - Hearts of the North - and complete what remains of my Eye Of North campaign (I'm sure I have a few dungeons not completed).
Is Hearts good enough? Does it compare to any of the other campaigns?

It honestly seems to me we have the same thing going on now as we always did - the continuing demise of pvp, various skill buffs and nerfs (with the accompanying outrage!!) , slight variety of the in meta build(s) once in a while, harder to get a half decent team together so everyone using their heros (yes, guilty as charged m'lord).

I have plenty of gold and good equipt - well, it was when i left!! :-) - so dont want any more really.

I want exciting new areas - maybe a change in game play - i want some reasons to come back and play!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have any??

Hearts of the North isn't a new campaign. It is a quest chain that you access after completing the War in Kryta quests/storyline.

If you haven't missed it in 2 years, my guess is you aren't missing out on anything.

-You shouldn't.

But seriously what answer are you looking for. No one can tell you if GW will be fun or not again for you and theres no sub, so theres no reason for you to not just relog and see how things are. If you were motivated enough to make this thread you should probably log back in and start playing around.

And no HoM rewards aren't 'worth it'. You dont get anything but a jellyfish and a title and some other eye candy stuff. Its just to achieve, so if its fun for you to get 50/50 then do it. If not then not

if nothing else, log in and get your minipets...if you don't use them for HoM, at least you'll have a small amount of cash upon selling them (assuming you don't already) to get started again...the HoM update brought me back after a year and it's actually kind of fun again

It seems you are already interested in trying it again, or else you wouldn't of made the thread.

But there is a ton of new things now then there was before. War in Kryta for example and Hearts of the North. If you are a shopper, there is new stuff in the Store as well like costumes you can wear over your armor.

The HoM rewards are mostly vanity rewards (excluding weapons and armor) for GW2. Minis, Ranger Pets, Weapons, Armor, Titles, etc. So if you have started on your HoM already, it is worth it to at least get 30 points (very easy to get) just to get the max amount of rewards. After 30, it is just titles.

So in my opinion, if you went through the effort of making this post, might as well log back in and check things out. I mean, it's free to play so no reason not to. A bunch of new stuff to see and new players to meet. So good luck with whatever you decide on.

Edit: Don't forget, the War in Kryta and Hearts of the North are not expansions/campaigns. They are free content for anyone to do. No charge. They are going to be releasing another new content patch as well called Winds of Change that will take place in Cantha.

Unless you want rewards for GW2 and can stomach the grind it takes, don't bother. Probably 80% of the community still alive just farm stuff for HoM, and the rest are scrubs/pvp ragers.

fun game, well made, with pleasing graphics and solid gameplay.

no subscription fee so you can play or not play as much as you want.

why do you need a reason to come back? either play it or don't, bro.

i give the same answer about Castle Crashers and Metroid, btw.

if you want to play it, yes come back, if you just want rewards or whatever --I would move on.
It really depends on what you want---if you liked playing they yeah come back and play--if you decide you really didnt then no harm done. It is a game that you can play when you want to and forget for a year and then play again (though a few updates have happened along the way, but you can catch up on them in the archives of game updates on wiki).

so what do YOU want to do?????

I was in the same boat as well (gone for 2.5 years), until more and more info started leaking out about be sequel and brought me back in anticipation... The rewards are definitely my main motivator, but it's nice to see new content as well.

The game seems...easier now for some reason. Anyone else think so?

The game is easier because of Power Creep.

Why should you start playing again after a nearly two years of inactivity?

PvE - So you can go play with yourself!

PvP - So you can go bald at a very early age [mostly from pulling it all off out of sheer frustration and embitterment].

It's a lot of fun. I came back after 2.5 years myself and I've been enjoying it. HoM update brought a lot of my old guild back, and while not everyone stuck around, those that did have been having fun as well.

There's a small amount of new content out there, along with of course the HoM stuff. Whether or not it's worth coming back for depends on the kind of person you are. I really like replaying older games that I enjoyed in the past, but a person who only wants to play a game once when it is current and never again probably wouldn't enjoy coming back.

Why don't you just log on, see whats up and decide if it's worth it or not?

All you're going to get here are negative responses ABOUT the game and why you shouldn't come back.

Don't let them deter you, but I can't talk ... the game did get quite stale and with that comes decreased activity. BUT, if you go into the larger towns, there are still quite a bit of people out there.

Why not try something you didn't do in your first run of the game? How about try a class you always personally underrated or something? Make a new guy from scratch.

There's not a lot to do when you have everything but if you stop having everything you want, then there is a reason to play and re achieve it. I'm not suggesting deleting a prized character or deleting anything for that matter, just think about what you can do to make it fun for yourself again.

If you've got your 30 points in HoM, then based on your impressive history in the game ... my suggestion is go play something else!

http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/2011-games/ Look here at all the new games coming out in 2011! (This is a very impressive post that should not be missed.)

Look around at all the wonderful games available right now! Borderlands ... etc etc ... and "that other game" has a new expansion just out that is getting good reviews.

Or for something really different, go hack Linux! Ubuntu, Mint, Puppy. Linux is not good for games in general, but is a game in and of itself if you have any geek blood or suffer from hacker psychosis.

I'm sort of in your same situation. I do play daily. I have four characters harvesting war supplies for really no good reason since I have my 30 in HoM. But I do enjoy the daily quest and might also do a Zaishen quest or two if the mood strikes me.

Yeah, if you have not done War in Kryta, you ought to do that for sure. The storyline quests for WiK vary from whimsical to challenging but held my interest. Defending Lion's Arch, the concluding quest, will make you feel like you have accomplished something; and give you access to vendors who will give you Oppressor Weapons in exchange for Medals of Honor to put in your HoM if you still need points.
