I'm just coming back to GW after a 3+ years of not playing. The last time I was on, I loaded EoTN, shut the computer down packed it into a box then moved to a new house. I just wanted to drop by and say hello and maybe a question or two. Are there any big missions that take you to a new spot on the map? I'm still using my original Ranger, is there anything new out there for a Ranger I should be looking for? Thanks!!!

There have been a lot of skill changes allowing rangers to be more effective Beastmaster's especially the removal of the need for Charm Animal on your skill bar to use your pet. Also the Zaishen Menagerie now exists on the Battle Isles where you can store your ranger's pets so that turning them over to a tamer is not a permanent loss.
Other than that, for general changes, I would say to treat this like a new game until you figure out what has been a major change. The Updates section on the wiki will help also. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

Make sure to visit the [Skills] vendor once you get to Eye of the North!
EotN gives zero new Elite skills, but about 10-20 new non-elite skills per profession (including a non-elite version of Barrage!) -- you'll want to get those new skills... not only for yourself, but for your heroes!
It will take a lot of platinum and skill points, but make sure you buy them all!

And like Darcy says: the new Zaishen Menagerie is DEFINITELY something you want to familiarize yourself. Put simply: It's a mega-stable for your Ranger's (and all of your heroes') combat pets.

As far as big missions that take you to the new content... just visit Lion's Arch, Kamadan or Kaening City. You'll have a popup that says "To travel to Eye of the North, speak to <NPC> and take the quest <QUEST>". Just follow those instructions and you're on your way!

I had a lot of fun traveling all over the game and filling the Zaishen Menagerie, and now switching pets takes just seconds instead of several hours to charm and re-level a new pet. If you decide to fill your zoo and want to save time, read the wiki section on death leveling (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Death_leveling).

Welcome back tot eh game, I'm in pretty much the same boat as you, minus the moving house.
Totally agree with what these guys have said, though my rangers still getting started in factions.
If you want to get going just focus on the primary quests for the eye of the north XD

Just to be picky, there are new elite skills in EotN. Ursan Blessing, Volfen Blessing, and Raven Blessing. Not that you'd want to use any of them though.

Those are all quest rewards, not captured from bosses, so that must be why I didn't think of them.
All the bosses in EotN have elites that can be captured in Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall.
