I was just posting the same...

I guess when GWs limited time savings is over you will be forced to go buy it for less at the same place that always has it for less.

Well yeah. Why else would they do it? Ppl have already pointed out prices elsewhere are cheaper.

Considering the age of the game, everything in the online store should get at least a 50% price cut. Permanently, not as a holiday special or whatever.

I think NCSoft must have monkeys making their business decisions. Do they not realize how many sales they miss out on by having their prices so ridiculously high? I got my copy of EotN for $4.99 in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart, but I would've been just as happy getting it through the online store if the prices had been the same.

Similarly, my Proph-only mule account would have been fully upgraded a long time ago if the prices were more reasonable.

When this issue was raised with (I think) Gaile a few years back the response given was something to do with the reccomended retail price and getting retailers to sell the box in their stores.

I think it was specific to why EotN was going to cost so much from the in game store even though the cost was less to produce a digital copy compared to shipping, box, retailer's cut etc.

The argument made in response was something along the lines: If we sell the game in our online store for less than what we put as the RRP for the retailers to stock it, they would have little to no incentive to stock ArenaNet's product because ArenaNet themselves were undercutting them. EotN is still on the shelves at my local EB, so are some of the other titles.

It doesn't explain the overcharging on content like costumes but it's a believable excuse for the retail releases.
