Haven't played in years, what have I missed?

After hearing from a friend about Guild Wars 2 I decided to get back into Guild Wars in time for Wintersday. The trouble is, I havn't logged in since 2007! I used to play this game like mad, but I'm I'm probably so out of touch I'd die by the hundreds if I tried to start off where I left. I'm going to make a Nightfall character from scratch and finish the campaign before I get into PvP, but I'd appreciate any advice and info on major changes to the game. Is a particular profession nerfed beyond belief? Does anybody even play anymore?

you can look around in there and see what skills have changed and other things that have happened....3 years is a LOT of catching up to do...but welcome back!
