Only some areas will load

Starting last night I have had trouble loading some characters and areas of Guild Wars. I logged on and chose a character, only some of the characters would load. The ones that couldnt load were stuck on 0%, and shortly after I was kicked off and an error code=005 popped up. However on other characters, they would load fine, and I could play Guild wars normally.

Today when I logged on I immediately received an error code=058, however after a few attempts I was able to reach the character select screen. I am now the characters that I was able to load onto last night worked, however I was not able to load some of the towns and explorable areas. The load was stuck on 0% and I was once again kicked off and received another error code=005. The characters which did not load the previous night loaded, however I was not able to reach any other towns and explorable areas, except for the one I loaded into. A few hours later, I was able to travel to other areas, but in a limited capacity, some areas would work, and others wouldn't.

I understand that both 005 and 058 fixes are the same, and both include opening the same ports. I have already tried these, and they still do not fix the problem.

I am starting to think that the problem is not on my side, because some of my characters and areas will load, however other characters and areas will not.

Does anyone have any insight as to what is happening, and how I might fix it?

It is possible that a few of the files for loading the areas may have been deleted from the GW file. Re-installing the game should fix it.

An uninstall and reinstall did not work.

Try re-downloading Gw.dat.

How would I go about doing that? I already uninstalled Guild Wars and then re-downloaded it off the website. By doing that wouldnt GW.dat be re-installed as well? Or is there something else I need to do?

As a side note, it seems that my Factions and Nightfall characters work in a limited way, as of right now none of my Prophecies characters are working. although one Prophecies was working earlier in Elona.

I've been having the same problem's since last update. I feel your pain, but glad to know it's not just me. I tried a bunch of "fixes" and had someone that know's what there doing come over to help but nothing's fixing the problem. If you get it fixed, post and update on what you did, I'll do the same.

Does any one else know what might be causing this, and how it can be fixed? Could it be from the influx of users because of Wintersday? Or is it a problem with one of the updates, as Tplmber has alluded to? Is it possible that it will just go away? While the problem isnt as bad anymore, I still occasionally get kicked off and are unable to access a few areas, it now seems to be completely random.

What video "card" do you have? If it's some form of Intel Integrated Graphics, that could be part of the problem.

If you totally uninstalled then re-installed as you said you will find that your gw.dat is of a minimal size (a fully updated .dat is somewhere around 4.16GB.)

Run the client with the -image switch - either make a new shortcut and alter the "target" to include the word -image, leaving a space after the final " in the image box OR by just running it from the command line - "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -image (depending on where you installed).

I just downloaded gw.dat using the -image command, and the problem still occurs.

I have a nvidia geforce 8400m GS video card. I really dont know what that means, so Quaker, you will need to help me out with that one.

I've been going back and forth with support. I have Verizon DSL in Massachusett's. This is my last response from support.

"Thank you for the update and the Game Advisor report. We have been receiving reports from Verizon customers in your area on this issue. Our Network Engineering team is working with Verizon to isolate the issue. While we continue the investigation, please contact Verizon to let them know that you are having this issue."

Hope this help's.

It means you don't have Intel graphics. (which is a good thing).

Judging by the errors you're getting, it sounds more like an internet connectivity problem. Which could be because of bad drivers, low wireless signal levels, intermittent signal interference, etc.
