I was given a GearHead AU5000 gaming headset for Christmas this year.
The headphones work perfectly but for the life of me I cannot get the microphone to work.
I have an Asus M4A785T-M/CSM motherboard running Via HD Audio Deck (VT1708S) as the onboard sound. Drivers are most recent available.
Under Playback devices I show:
Speakers - Default Device
SPDIF Interface (TX0) - Ready (Dunno what this is.)
SPDIF Interface (TX1) - Ready (Dunno what this is.)
Under Recording I show:
Front Mic - Currently Unavailable - Check Mark (Problem area I think.)
Microphone - Not plugged in (Rear jack, doesn't work here either. Becomes the same as front mic if switched)
Line In - Not plugged in
Stereo Mix - Ready
Anyone able to assist? Need any more information? Any ideas? Google was a flood of microphone problems with windows 7, and no answers at all...
Microphone not working. Windows 7.

Busted microphone, tbh - if it shows the same fault front and back that rules out a defective port.
SPDIF (Sony/Philips Digital InterFace) is yer digital out - optical probably.

Bah, busted microphone? That sucks. I guess I can try to find out where he got it and return/replace it.
