Old gamer thinking about returning
goyk
Hi all, im an old guild wars gamer from back in the days when only prophecies existed, i used to be a big gamer on guild wars.
I was a member of a fairly small but good guild, we played a lot of GvG games together and i was usually at the heart of them all.
I usually play as a necromancer although i can play as just about anything if needs arise.
Basically im looking to get back into the game, wanting to know if many people still loyally play as i know world of warcraft is a big thing now a days (iv tried WoW by the way and don't really think much of it).
Im also looking to join a guild with good experience who GvG from time to time and wouldn't mind helping me get back into the game and learn the ropes again.
Thanks to anyone who gets back to me in advance, any help or invites etc would be greatly appreciated

If you were a GvG man, then dont come back to Guildwars. Or do so expecting to be disappointed.
On the other hand, if you have only played prophecies, you might get a lot of enjoyment out of Factions, NF, EoTN, and Beyond content.
But people are leaving gw PvP not joining it.

If you're looking for PvP stop and run the other way, if you're looking for PvE, come on in.

That is disappointing, im not a total GvG guy i do enjoy the campaign too although i love a GvG too from time to time.
I could live without it, although if i could find a guild who still dipped into it then that would be a huge bonus.

Complete bullshit.
Being a returning player there are plenty of guilds that play occasionally. If you're currently in the GvG scene, although a lot less active than it has been and by no way in it's prime there is a lot of effort into bringing those interested in and there is still a substantial european activity.
I know a specific guild that may be of interest for you of a few old and new players who GvG purely for the fun of it, i'll pm you info.

They made hundreds if not thousands of changes to the game to make pvp more interesting and to make the builds used less predictable.
The end result of this was to make many pvp and pve players unhappy kill off some types of pvp play and make pve much easier.
There is a lesson there for anet if they choose to learn it.
GW games are cheap buy them all and join the fun because it is still fun in spite of if not because of all the changes.
at least buy eye of the North fill your hall of monuments and await the glory that could be GW2

If you come back for PvE , then do it for sure. Although it has some problems , especially concerning some abusive farmings ( *cough *perma sin), it's still fun to do.
For GvG , well if you want to play it for fun sometimes , then sure , but i would recommend to not bother with it , especially if for the competitive part ...

You can check out (and post yourself) in the Guild Connections section. If you want to get involved in GvG again, you will need to either purchase the other campaigns or the appropriate Skill Pack(s) from the in-game store (connection on your login screen).
Purchasing the campaigns is best done by getting the Trilogy & Eye of the North or Walmart was carrying the Complete Collection which includes EotN. Just adding the access key to your account on the login page will upgrade your account without disturbing your existing characters' belongings or accomplishments. You should have several years worth of Birthday Presents (minipets) in your bags.

GvG is pretty dead but you can still play on European times. In other timezones, it will be impossible to get an opponent on a normal time of day.
