SD N/R pet method, i still think i do something wrong.

More then enough times the opposing team still has several to lots opponents left with only me on my team.
I cannot/will not engage more then one opponent alone, when my Hero is dead. So i have to restart.
Is this common or not?
Then again, somtimes i win with lots of survivors on my team.
I thought i did what is suggested about this method on Wiki.

If you do it right, you shouldn't even lose all team mates, really. That's the point - enemies all bunched up, your teammates keeping them busy while you use the flurry of ice to inflict massice damage on the tightest concentration of enemies.

Uhm, i am not Ranger. Dont use a primary Ranger hero either.
Anyway, i found somthing that works better.
The wiki suggest to activate your Necro hero skill Holiday Blues first and then Ice Fort.
Activating Ice Fort first and then Holiday Blues on my Necro hero seems to work better.
Some timing odness getting the opponents not balled up enough inside Holiday Blues it must be i guess.

im a bit confused - your title is n/r with pet so we assume its a necro with ranger and his pet but you say your an ele.
The normal method is - necro the suicide bomber who balls the foes and the ranger uses their ranger skill flurry of ice to kill multiple foes.
Ita harder to do if there isnt a ranger because only ranger has flurry ( hits several foes - like barrage in a way ) and even if you ball the foes on necro the other partner will still have a mob to try and kill 1v1.
Hence you mainly see r lf nec sd or nec lf r sd .

sorry for the confusion.
I remember Wiki mentions also a method with a Necro and a Ranger.
I however am using a Necro primary hero with, as suggested on wiki, Ranger secondary so u can give the Necro hero a pet.

If you use Ice Fort then Holiday Blues you end up wasting a few seconds of Ice Fort.

I prefer using a rit hero. I flag him to the middle and then force jack frost, then unflag him. The other team uses their forts and hidden rocks and we just go in have fun and I don't have to suicide my hero. I use a ranger for my toon, but there were a couple of times where I did it without even attacking and succeeded so I'm pretty sure you could do it with any class.

But... since the snowball fight mechanic replaces all skills with snowball skills, you wouldn't get a pet to bring along anyway...
Better yet, let's recap:
-For snowball fights, ALL skills get replaced by snowball skills.
-since all skills get replaced, this applies to charm animal/comfort animal, too -> no pets
-One of those skills changes depending on the primary profession of the character.
-Secondary professions don't affect the skills at all
-the most popular build is a combination of one necromancer and one ranger. why? because:
-the ranger gets a great skill, Flurry of ice. It's essentially an AoE skill, targetting up to 5 enemies clustered together. If enemies are clustered together, the skill is murderous, giving the ranger the firepower (snowpower?) of 5 characters
-since you need the enemies to clump up, it's popular to send one sacrificial hero into the middle of the enemy group, so they all attack him when they go hostile.
-the character uses the snow fort skill to live for a few seconds more, continuing the distraction
-this way, all enemies immediately use their snow forts, and waste a few seconds of skills and spells on the sacrificial character
-if the character is a necromancer, he can make the most of the situation simply becuase his unique skill is a point blank AoE skill that does massive damage (it's long recharge and loss of 50% life doesn't matter since the character will die immediately after the snow fort goes down, full life or half life)
-while the enemy are busy, the ranger spams Flurry of ice to take the enemies down as fast as possible

It won't actually attack at all, but if you [space] a target, the pet will rush up and stand in the target's face. Very helpful for holding aggro, whether it belongs to a hero or to you.

Iuris, you are wrong about the no pet thngy. Players CAN bring a pet into SD, idk if it's a bug or not, but you can.
What I would suggest you to do is :
-go any/R
-Bring a pet
-Bring a ranger hero
-In snowball fights, flag your hero back and aggro an enemy as soon as you can, and lock your pet on him while spamming your snowballs
-unflag your hero, and micro him to use flurry as much as possible
-get your reward, rinse and repeat.
This method is less dangerous then using a necro hero, and will get the job done easily. If you use a necro hero, and you are not a ranger, once the necro is dead, you will lack firepower to take care of stragglers more then often

I will attack as well till i take to much damage, then i run away.
It may help tip the balance, opponents i help defeat.
It works good enough(now), the method i use (described in above posts).
A tip to handle stragglers (surviving opponents).
Aggro only one, and run past Helga and Brartak. They will attack the opponent u aggroed.
When its safe for u, help Helga and Brartak. Repeat, for remaining stragglers.

I've been playing GW less than 2 years, and my most developed toon is not even KOABD yet. My guild leader has 2 GWAMMs already, and has recently been farming SD to work on his 3rd, which he intends as a "title spiker" (he's hoping to nearly-simultaneously max 12 titles to get GWAMM on this one, while ALSO keeping it at 0 deaths through that point...he's nuts). The point is that he's been playing a while and knows a LOT more about the game than I do.
And he was kind of shocked when I told him that I was bringing pets into SD.

hell i was shocked to see my bear in SD with me.... but yeah once you get over that part, allit is good for is bodyblocking/aggro

And shutting down your skills when it dies. I checked.

Just brought Pyre Fireceshot in with the pet I got him. Was able to clear out the fight straightaway for the first time.
