Ladder is Frozen.

This hasn't happened without being announced ever, and the last time it happened was 3 years ago, what is going on?

Well this explains why top 100 guilds on obs were running henchway ~_~

I'm still questioning the necessity of freezing the ladder for what looks to be a simple AT scheduling bug.

Also, why has there not been some kind of announcement about it yet?

could have something to do with the short staff they keep at this time of the year.....but yeah they should have someone looking at it by now.

I'm still questioning why they had to permanently remove the XTH, and since I'm never going to get an answer, I'll just assume it's a combination of laziness and sucking.

The whole system turned out to be a messy pile of crap, something crapped out last summer... or summer before, and instead of fixing the database and so on they just said "meh, GW ain't bringing cash anymore, let's ditch this thing".

And ditch they did hard.

That's exactly all the point.Many questions we will probably never get an answer ( Codex arena being one of them..)
I'm not even sure they noticed the bug yet , but i hope it will be fixed fast , considering GvG was maybe the only competitive format left >>

Seriously, I'll take a "we had a huge clock counting down to this moment and wanted to see what would happen" answer at this point.

Seems really unorthodox for something like this to happen with no announcement or notice at all.

Ladder freezes don't happen by accident.

For once i do believe it's accident though. I wouldn't see the logic at doing a ladder reset/freeze on purpose at the point of the game , except if they're going to re-define whole GvG system..

They didn't freeze the ladder when they changed the VoD tie breaker to lord damage. They haven't frozen the ladder for 3 years.

I wouldn't mind a complimentary reset or anything, this historic ladder thing is getting old fast and you have to admit that the ladder is more active now than it was before, matches almost instantly.


But tbh they could decide to keep the ladder frozen since you know, it's 'broken' and the way Anet deals with broken things is remove them from the game...

Playing gvg on ladder is +0 and -0
Playing Automated Tournaments still has the k value of 25 and rating (and rank) is changed, these also still award reward points and qualifier points.
Balthazar faction and wintersday gifts are awarded in both ladder and ATs.
Champion points are not awarded in ladder nor in ATs.

So this frozen ladder would seem like either a fix to stop syncing, it certainly works, or an accident. Unless people are syncing to get wintersday gifts, then its a fail on both sides.

Find this a silly solution.

Anet back to work tomorrow, hopefully something will be done.
