Should I get any of the candy cane weapons?
Liquidus
Can anyone think of a situation in pve or pvp where a candy cane weapon would be useful? Keep in mind that they can't be modded. Obviously the Candy Cane longbow could be used in place of a normal longbow for pulling. Any use for a spear?

pretty much testing out stuff with their fixed damage. other then that, nothing other then looking shiny in snowball type games.

Possibly the spear, I was reading the N/A sin promise buidl on PvX earlier and in the equip it says a heavy spear to trigger barbs more.

You don't need a candy cane spear to trigger barbs. As long the spear doesn't have an elemental mod on it it'll be fine. You can't apply upgrades of any kind to candy cane weapons anyway.

I see that now. :P I just though 10-10 damage was better than nothing. :P

I was looking at them on the Wiki the other day, and as it says there, the only reason I could see these being useful is because of the lack of requirement and the consistency of damage/armor/energy. Having some of these in storage for a new toon might be handy, particularly the longbow for pulling. The bow, for example, is a 15 damage, no requirement... that's "better" than giving one of your new toons a 15-28 (max for bows) with a q9 when they have no pips in marksmanship. As I understand it, if the q9 was a drop (or a /bonus weapon), its damage is cut in half... and if it's a collector item, it goes to base damage with a small bonus. Either way, less damage than the candy cane weapon.
I'm still debating whether or not to snag a couple before the festivities end. I've got plenty of shards, and I could see a few scenarios in which I might kick myself in a few months for not grabbing them while I can. LOL

Don't bother imo. It doesn't take long to level new characters and during that time your damage isn't going to matter much. I used one of the bonus bows on my NF Ranger while levelling and I didn't have much trouble.

The bow can be used for pulling and add just a bit more damage to non-rangers, but all in all, none of the weapons are really worth it. *Knock Knock, hey Arenanet make some rainbow candycane weapons worth using next year.*
Still Number One
Candy cane weapons are useless and you should never get them for serious use. If you wanna joke around with them or you think they look cool you can use them with a beginning character or use them in festival arenas like Dragon arena or Snowballs.
Wintergreen items on the other hand do have some use. The shield is just as useful as any other if you can't meet the requirement (obviously not good for a monk/warrior with an investment in tactics), and the spear is actually pretty good if you are building adren without any points in spear mastery (warrior, monk, sin). But these weapons you will have to buy from someone and I would assume they aren't cheap, but I don't know for sure.

they are pretty and can take up space on a mule character....for real use I would say not really outside of the few instances listed here (yeah I have a full set--on a mule).
Yawgmoth
all peppermint weaoons (except maybe the bow) are completely useless, however the Wintergreen weapons are pretty much awesome and in some uses completely unmatched by any droppable weapon.

Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't it set that if you use a weapon without the attribute requirement it could do more damage when one which has requirements for getting the most damage out? I'm also certain customization and mods can enable their use as a supplemental weapon rather then a main one for some builds.

get them and put them on unused heroes they're kinda cool lookin

you could always get all your guildies to equip them and go around batting each other like a nerf war.
