So the Winds of Change was supposed to start sometime before wintersday i read awhile back, what happened with that?

Nothing was ever said about Winds of Change happening/starting before Wintersday. It was said that the next part of GW:B would occur before then (if I remember correctly) - that was Hearts of the North.

The only thing to be shown before Wintersday was the wedding. The dervish update, the Embark Beach, 7 heroes and Winds of change are all 2011.

Changes to scythes will be implemented after Wintersday 2010.
New Zaishen outpost, Embark Beach, and seven hero parties will be implemented after the Dervish update mentioned above.
New content which will expand the story of Guild Wars 1 and form a bridge to Guild Wars 2 (see Guild Wars Beyond) :

To my mind that could in some cases mean more than 7 but I guess we will find out soon enough.

If we do see GW2 released next, sorry, this year, I'd imagine it will be after Halloween, around Thanksgiving to cash in on the Christmas craze.
After all, I'm guessing we'll get GW:B content in NF, too, before all is said and done. At this rate, it could take a whole year.
