Should i get factions?
Addishuns
Title says it, i have prophs and NF but dont have factions. Tried playing WoW buts its too much grind. Plus PvP seems pretty competitive and i'd like to join that scene, then again i am missing somethings others may be taking advantage of.
tl;dr factions worth it now since GW2 is soon to be out?

I don't know how "soon" GW2 is coming out, but if you're looking to stay on GW for now and have something to do I'd say picking it up for the campaign isn't a bad idea. You level up really quick in it. If you just want to PvP and get into that scene, you could just buy the skill/item packs for PvP instead and make PvP characters (unless you want an assassin/ritualist, then you'll need Factions anyway).

i just recently read something about "winds of change" seems as ill need factions for it? if so ill get it. But not for the retail price because 30$ is way too much for just factions.

Winds of change is a part of the Guild Wars Beyond series of extra stories leading up to GW2. You will need to have completed factions to take part in that, just as you need to have completed Prophs and/or eotn for the war in kryta/hearts of the north storyline
Saru The Boss
There are alottt of Factions skills you won't want to miss out on, especially in PvP (Spirit Bond comes to mind.)
Kosar The Cruel
Get Factions, Even if it's $30 buy it.
Some handy skills in there and some fun competitive missions you an dick around in when you get bored.

If you can get it for a decent price, definitely get it! It'll help with your HoM (if you have North) -- armor points, Lucky/Unlucky with 9 Rings (if you can afford it), and you can pretty easily get a gold mini if you farm some easy quests during Canthan New Year (lines up with Chinese New Year).
Awesome skills, and the Factions PvP arenas are no where near as high-pressure as the core PvP types. Very enjoyable if you're not in to hard-core PvP.
As stated, Winds of Change is coming, and you'll need Factions to participate.
On top of all that, some of the scenery is breathtaking.

in the netherlands the price really has gone down, that does happen in other countries right?, one chapter of gw first costed €50 now it's only €10, the trilogie only costs €20, i would sure buy it for that price, to bad i bought it some years ago for €30 for factions

i'd say factions is the best (but i'm slightly biased) in terms of longevity its better than nightfall since it includes active forms of PvP and all the faction and all that.
it's incredibly cheap and like people say canthan new year is coming up, which is equal to wintersday in goodjness ^^.
The main complaint people have about factions is the story, but I prefer it to the story in nightfall so its whatever you make of it, but you'll definatley miss out if you don't have it!

I would buy it if your going to play Guild wars for some time to come, If your after moving to GW2 I would get eye of the North first or instead of.
We don't really know what parts of GW you like playing so its a little hit and miss advice wise.

Factions is €10 on steam, as is eye of the north. I'm sure it's that cheap in alot of places. It would be worth picking up both as you can earn bonus items for GW2 but you absolutely need eotn to get them.

P.S. never never bought from steam.

Buying stuff from Steam is a digital purchase.
And yeah, may as well get Factions. If you don't want to pay $30 for it, I know that you can find the full trilogy itself for $20 at many places.

If you want Luxon/Kurzick skills, Alliance battles, and about 1/4 to 1/3 of the game's skills... get it.
(That's a yes, go buy it)

Should you buy faction? Yes. You should buy it and play it so you have a complete expierence. While its not as gradual and is kinda short, its still a good campaign.

Factions is way cool. Every time I make a new toon (I'm a character RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO) I almost always start it in factions, even if I'm planning on campaigning somewhere else first. Plus you get 2 new Character Slots.
And as stated Canthan New year rocks. I personally think it's the best of all the holiday type content. It's the Most engaging, and there are more games involving other players. Much more entertaining then wintersday for sure.
Also some of the best farms (if your into that sort of thing) are in Factions.
I highly suggest getting Factions and EotN both, because they really do add a ton of play time and new opportunities. I think you can just by them online on the NCstore pretty cheep and it will dload when you launch the game.

Yes, for all the above reasons. You easily have 6 months before GW2 is released. Canthan New Year and C:WoC will also be starting soon and you must have Factions for that. Factions also goes pretty fast if your just going through the storyline and its a good place to start a new toon.
Lithril Ashwalker
factions - more skills such as Animate Flesh golem...always worth it.
cosyfiep
yes....its short and some good armors and some nice skills and the ritualist and sin--right there is reason enough.
I find it the most pleasant chapter to do and is usually the first one I complete on a new character (and that can be added to the hom as well....) and if you have the other 2 chapters you will get the MOX hero--also add-able (ugh new word) to the HOM!
so yes, yes and yes.

Hands down, my favorite Guild Wars game. The scenery, monsters, story, weapon skins, all was awesome.
Definitely get it, at least for the new skills + professions, which is needed if you ever wanna get serious about Guildwars
