Att: Anet. Regarding adding more character slots for a price
helloeveryone
It is to my understanding that if i wanted a extra character slot, i need to go into the NCsoft store and use a credit card and link my account to NCsoft and enter my credit card details and purchase a extra character slot.
I wanted some more slots to add into my account but there are a few reasons why i am not willing to buy via the online store and i believe there are many out there having the same reason as well.
1. Does not want to link our account to NCsoft
2. Does not wish to buy via online due to issue such as online security threats.
3. Does not wish to buy online due to many online feedback regarding account been banned wrongly (irregardless of having their account reinstated or not, there are still frustrating procedure to go through emailing support and that slightest chance that they still decides not to release you and that you are banned end of the day)
Can i suggest that if we simply go into any gaming store and buy a copy of EOTN and adding the IDkey into the game, it will instantly give us 2-4 extra character slot.
Kind of catering to players like me out there and may help to sell more copies of Guildwars out there in the market.

If we are talking about a new EOTN version that will also add 2 extra character slots then why not.
Better said keep the curent EOTN version and add a new EOTN version on market (that will cost probably more then the standart EOTN version) that will also add 2 extra character slots.

1) Why not?
2) Seriously? If it is such a concern then why are you playing an online game?
3) You can get banned for breaking the EULA, not for buying online. Don't break the rules, don't get banned.
You could always buy another copy of the game (Trilogy is $20?) for more characters. It'd be a separate account, but whatever.

Dean you might find it funny but i share the same opinion as the author does. Hacking is a common topic nowdays and i don`t think that i feel secure in any possible way.
I have a problem of a different kind. I have recеived the Prof account as a gift from an Internet-cafe 5 years ago. The username and password were chosen by the admin of that cafe. After that i have changed them and added some keys to the account (F,NF,EOTN). A friend of mine has bought me 2 char slots and the bonus mission pack. Now i`m working on my HOM but i won`t be able to use it in GW2, cos i don`t have an NCSoft master account.(I bet that there is one connected to my ingame e-mail). I`m afraid to ask the support cos i might get a ban.
I don`t have the prof access key and i can`t provide the credit card details for the 2 keys (slots+BMP). Now tell me why am i feeling so insecure and prefer not to do it but to keep my account the way it is?

If you're unwilling to use your credit card online or link your account to a NCMA, why not obtain character slots the way people did before we had the option to purchase them from the online store? There are brick and mortar stores that sell the entire trilogy for the price of two character slots.
I understand that it's annoying to juggle more than one account, but the luxury of having everything on one account obviously comes with a price.
I definitely wouldn't be mad if I got two extra slots just for having EotN, but I think they didn't offer them for a couple of reasons. It's not a stand-alone game and it doesn't offer new professions.

As silly as the subject here may sound, I'd like to see Anet have game keys in stores for character slots etc, or maybe have a 10 dollar in-game gift certificate you could buy in Wal-mart, let's say to purchase costumes, character slots, skill packs etc. once you hook it up to your account.

There ARE payment options that allow you not to use credit cards...
I don't have one and yet was able to buy from the in game store and on the site by using the Paysafecard option. I can't honestly say what options like that are available for you as I don't know where you're from or what the site displays for you, but I do know that certainly for Europeans, we do have a non-credit card online payment option. I believe Paypal is also an option regardless of where you are. As you're redirected to the Paypal site to confirm the transaction, you'd be perfectly secure. If you can't trust Paypal, you can't trust anything.
As for the worry of keyloggers, regular scanning by updated software should catch any that you were unfortunate to pick up. Wouldn't recommend Norton/McAfee though as they're generally made of fail :P

Pretty sure you can purchase from the in-game store without linking your account to a Master Account. I did it before, a long time ago.
And if you're not comfortable using your credit card, get one of those Visa gift cards for the amount you want.

Is the irish equivalent of these pre-paid visa's which are actually very good and safe. Would recommend trying them out.

Standard debit card safety is as follows:
1. Don't link your Debit card account to any savings account, so if someone else uses it, it will bounce instead of pulling funds from another (savings based) account.
2. Visa, at least, offers all of its Credit Card protections to Debit Cards as long as they're filed as Credit. In other words, fraudulent charges are 100% covered by Visa's protection policy. So slide a Debit Card and use it as Credit. This also avoids sniffers getting your PIN number.
3. Preferably balance your checkbook/account, but at least keep receipts long enough to make sure charges go through properly. Credit cards (and debit run as credit) may take up to a week for charges to appear online, so keep receipts for at least the same amount of time and make sure charges are correct. With the advent of online banking, via either strictly online banks or physical banking locations with online options, this is very easy and convenient.
So while I certainly understand the nervousness that comes with buying things online, I can say I've never been ripped off online. Just be careful, make sure sites are secure (there should be a little lock emblem on your browser and the URL should read https), and you ought to be fine. I've never been ripped off by NCSoft or ArenaNet's in-game store.
I promise not *everything* on the internet is evil and out to get ya. Oh, and you don't have to link to NCSoft to buy through in game store. At least, I'm pretty certain you don't.

As for the OT, I don't really see why not to have his option. I personally have no problem with buying from the online store but I also dont really see how anyone can have a problem with being able to buy character slots from gamestops or Best Buys.

Use gift cards. I always do and there is little if any need to worry. Internet crooks can't jack what isn't there.

Buy a pre-paid Visa/MC gift card... they're sold everywhere. Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, etc.
As I recall, PayPal also offers users an option to have PayPal generate a temporary Visa/MC number which you can use for online purchases. I don't trust PayPal and won't use them... but it's an option for those who do.
Personally, I'd go with the pre-paid gift cards. Buy a $25 card, use it to get your toon slots, and spend the last $5 on a burger or something at McDonalds. I bought a $50 one at CVS last month as a gift and gave my best friend the account number and such over the phone (he lives 600 miles away) so he could use it to buy storage panels for his GW account since it wouldn't let me buy the panels for him directly. Handy option and very minimal risk - you're risking, at most, whatever funds you put on that card.

I don't see how anyone could have a problem with it, but at the same time, I highly doubt it will ever happen - and that's simply because those sorts of prepaid cards never sell very well. I work at a Gamestop, and the only sort of prepaid stuff that we have that sells consistently is Microsoft points and subscriptions and PSN points. That's it. Not even the WoW subscription cards sell often. For the most part it's simply more convenient for people to use their credit card to purchase said addons themselves (and the reason people often don't do that with XBL and PSN is because it ties the credit card to your account, which people may not want for a number of reasons).

I too have used a $25 Visa gift card for a purchase from the store. Just a couple of weeks ago I received one and, not having anything else I really wanted to use it on, bought 2 character slots with it. Worked without any trouble, which is more than I can say for my experiences trying to use it at Walmart where it is hit or miss whether it works.
helloeveryone
Making more sales option available is definitely good idea from the marketing point of view i guess. Anet, please consider this option available to widen the buyers market and make more sales, thanks

I realize that. What I don't understand is how does buying a character slot from the store lead to a ban?

okie, i took the time to search for you, have a look
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/a...t10376668.html
its a sad thing that happened. not too sure if 100% of wrongly banned players are recovered but i am sure 100% are not happy over what have happened

Cause currently, there is people that share Master Accounts. I know for one, my whole family uses one Master Account for all four of our accounts. If they set it up to where you have to link a Master Account, then it will screw three of us out of rewards for GW2 since you can only link one account.
OT: I think adding extra character slots to a new version of EotN sounds fine. But it would be nice if they just made Game Cards basically for the cash shop, so you could go to Target/Walmart/etc and buy a GW Store Card. Like a gift certificate type thing.
Rites
considering they have this: http://www.ncsoft.com/en/gamecard/
another card that can be used to credit for upgrades/etc shouldn't be too hard to add

With GW2 somewhere on the horizon, Anet is not going to be spending money on printing out cards and whatnot to send to stores for a game that will shortly be dead. What you are asking for, is for them to spend money, to make you feel more secure for whatever reason, when they have other priorities to be spending their money on at this moment in time. Most of these cards you propose would be left unused. Hence a large sum of wasted capitol.
However, this may not be a bad idea for GW2.
Tho I can attest to the fact that I have 26 character slots on my account, have bought costume packs and mission packs from the store attached to the GW login screen and have NEVER had a single issue with anything of any kind. Nor have I ever had to link my account to NCsoft by buying directly off the server screen.
We live in an age that is doing away with old methods of shopping. Sooner or later you will need to embrace this new reality. You cant expect companies to bend to your insecurities to make your life easier. Because after all, shopping online was created to make our lives easier by not having to leave the house, drive to a store and buy something to come all the way back home to use. If you are so paranoid, I suggest you drive to the store, buy a disposable visa card, put money on it, drive back home, and use that for online shopping to get your extra character slots. Worry free.

sadly it seems you must embrace the ideals of a lazy world
but it is true, with the few transactions i have had with the online store i never had any issues. and if you have your comp setup with proper defensive programs, you should not have any issues, OR you could do what everyone else said and just buy pre paid cards for online transactions
