Long-Lasting Gaming PC

I`m looking to build a new PC for moderate gaming use (nothing like Crysis, the most graphics intensive game I`ve played so far is League of Legends :P). My friend has helped me pick out some parts & what I need to do & said he would so graciously guide me through the process of putting everything together.

I would just like a second opinion on this setup and if everything should be okay. :)

And I think that leaves me with mouse / keyboard / anti-virus, probably going to spend a lot of time looking at the keyboard/mouse but for anti-virus I`ve had Symantec & AVG suggested, anything else I should look at?

look into getting Avast, very good anti virus, and there is a free version, and you get all the updates and everything, i use it and its amazing, i noticed after using Avast, i used to use AVG, it picked up on stuff AVG missed, but dont get me wrong AVG is very good too

I would suggest a P55 motherboard and an i5 - gives you the option for Crossfire/SLI later on and the i5 is a better CPU all the way around, save some money by looking for a better deal on a Case and PSU and put them into the CPU & Mobo --- you will have a better and more future proof Comp0uter for about the same cost too.

Personally, I would go for a better processor such as an i5-760. If cost is a problem, I'd drop the SSD.

Would I really need a better processor for the types of games I play?

Also, what kind of better deal could I get for a case? My friend has looked and he said he couldn`t find a better deal.

im getting it for 100$ from the guy im buying all my parts from, since im building a whole rig from his shop, he gave me a few deals on some parts. But this case has 4 fans, 2 in front, 1 on top, and one at the back, with a possible 5th added to the plexiglass side and the 2 in the front have speed controls so they can either be sped up or slowed down, plus the added feature of taking a laptop hard drive and sliding it into the slot on the top and backing up the whole hdd. I saw this case and i didnt need any convincing, i was yup thats the one i want

Drop the SSD. The case is fine. Your mobo comes with 2 SATA cables, all you need is 1 extra if you plan to get an SSD.

Unless im mistaken, dvi cables should already be included with your monitor.

We don't know, you only mentioned one game. It's hard to determine what "type" of games you play on one example.
In any case, newer games will make more use of multiple cores.

So the bottom line is to drop the SSD, go for an i5 CPU and P55(?) motherboard, get a better deal on a case that looks better and find a better deal on a Video Card (PSU) as well?

If you think 60 GB is a right size for the amount of games you have (and will play in the future) and the price is justified with the speed you'll get, go ahead but you're kinda wasting your money in that area. I'd personally go for a 500 GB to 750 GB high RPM mechanical HDD for a cool 50 or 60 bucks.

The bottom line is you should wait. With the new 1155 series intel procs coming out and graphics going to PCI-E 3.0 this year... You'll be spending money on something that in a few months will be significantly less.

If your determined though...

Drop the SSD. Upgrade to i7. Get 6gb of ram. And if you can afford it upgrade to the GTX 470. It gets amazing reviews, and it's performance is amazing for what you pay. If you have an old monitor that still works, I'd honestly just keep it. I used the same LCD for 8 years and it was fine the whole time. Drop the SSD and Monitor and you can get a killer rig that will perform great for pretty much anything you can throw at it. If you feel super duper... Get an Antec 900 or 902. I've got the 902 and it's fantastic. Tons of air circulation and enough size for expansion.

It'd be interesting to know what you're running atm though. If you've got a p43 mobo then you've still got a lot of options on cheap upgrades that will boost your performance greatly.
