So I bought the trilogy and the expansion with the goal of doing as many of the Hall of Monument achievements for GW2. Mostly because i'm really bored waiting for EQ2s next expansion.
I'm a little confused on a few things.
At character creation it asks me which chapter i want to play. I figured I would do them in order but I've seen some people suggest Nightfall first because of the heroes. If I do Nightfall first can I do Prophecies with that same character? what if it is a paragon or dervish? Will that let me use heroes in Prophecies?
I could not find my stats anywhere. I was trying to check my armor value. Where is it?
Only the first 2 chapters are available at character creation. I assume this is because i don't have a lvl 20 toon? Also the ritualist does not show up.
Any class suggestions for completing HoM achievments? Any particular path through the chapters?
I read a lot of the threads on here but the heavy use of acronyms and shorthand made it look like jibberish.
Thanks in advance!
Newbie. What do I do?

Then you have not purchased Factions (but you bought the trilogy? did you make sure to register it?). Also the Assassin should be missing too then.
Ritualist, from what I've heard, is the fastest... even though I don't use one myself. However, since it seems you can't play one atm, I would suggest Necromancer, since they have the best naturally occurring energy management in the game.
Just play through. Stop by Nightfall/Eye of the North to pick up heroes and make things easier on yourself, other than that, have fun.

*Yes, you can complete all the campaigns with the same character.
*Yes, Paragons and Dervishes (and Ritualists and Assassins in the case of Factions) can travel to other continents too. You just can't make/start a Para or Derv in a campaign other than Nightfall or a Rit or Sin in a campaign other than Factions.
*Heroes belong to a character. When a character obtains a hero, they'll be able to use that hero wherever they like (unless that particular area doesn't allow heroes, like in PvP).

A Little confused on one thing you said you have Trilogy , hence you can play all 3 campaigns.
Are you not getting confused when you start it shows 2 formats..... PVE role play and PVP.
If you choose roleplay then you will see 3 panes appearing Proph...nightfall..factions...you choose then what campaing and what profession.
Core professions are in all the 3 the only difference is ...Nightfall you can make a Paragon or a Dervish..alongside any core prof. Factions is similar bar you have a choice of Ritulist or Assasin.
All the info guys have given above is relavant but, have a look at the Campfire section on builds ect.
Also if you have made a char in any Campaign they can cross over and play any of the others by doing a quest at the relavant city.
The HALL OF Monument can be made Account based so it can be counted towards your goal i.e armour ect.
PVP Creation can be a little helpful at the begining by obtaining Faction and buying skills(these are given to your heros good to obtain for hero builds) for pve. you can either delete the pvp char or keep it for pvp your choice (as you are new you will not have a lot of skills unlocked for it at present)
Welcome to Guild Wars and have fun

my 2 pennies worth...
start nightfalls, its not as slow as prophecies, but doesn't just push you through like factions, plus you get heroes, which will make it a lil easier for when you can't find a group
on the hero note: like others have said, make a PvP toon, get faction points, unlock skills... and use hero points you accumulate in nightfalls storyline for more skills (albeit the selections are kinda slim, but free is free ) as much as possible try not to buy skills, use wiki to see if there are free ways to get certain skills you need (like hero skills in NF, or thru quests in prophecies) excpt for elites of course, which is another ballgame alltogether

Thanks guys. This info will help me get started. When I said I only see 2 chapters that must of been a typo. I see all 3. I don't see assassin or ritualist but I have not tried to create a character in Factions. I thought they would show up in Nightfall too.
Raven Wing
Even if you have complete game you can only create the Faction specific professions Ritualist or Assassin in Factions, and Derv and Para can only be created in Nightfall where they come from.

All been said really and I only disagree with the advice about using heroes for a new player.
Heroes are low level and have only basic skills but if I started a character in nightfall I was low level and so were they and we kind of grew up together.
Lack of skills wasn't a problem as they were good enough for the missions I had to do and as the missions got harder I gained more skills it worked out fine.
Bringing characters to Nightfall was kinda annoying as the Heroes were still low level and I had to level them up before getting to the serious stuff.
Meant all 3 of my Prophesies characters and both my Factions ones had to go through a boring process of levelling up the heroes before I could party with them properly
Since you have a large number of heroes and can only use a few at a time you had to do this over and over.
Still the op has a large number of character slots so he can start characters in each campaign and see which appeals play them for a day then go with the one that your having most fun with.
Keep the others you may want to go back to them some time later on.

Welcome to GW Rafkin
There is a lot of useful info in the above. I would just add find a good guild, they will answer your questions and help you through the game.
