Hey,
for my introduction my name is Ben, im 18 years old and live in norway.

i just downloaded/installed guild wars from steam, when i tried to register an account it said that my access code could not be used to create a new account(code=133).

can anyone explain what to me what this means/find a way to fix it so i can register an account and play?

i would be grateful,

I believe you have to log in through Steam where the game should be on your Games list.

As far as I know, Steam is only a distribution platform for Guild Wars, but account information is not shared between Steam and Guild Wars. So if you got an access key for Guild Wars, you cannot create your Guild Wars account within Steam - instead, you have to create the Guild Wars account from within Guild Wars.

To do this, fire up the Guild Wars client you hopefully got from steam and click on the "Create Account or Add Access Key" from the login screen. There you are able to enter the access key.

Here is a link to Steam's help info for GW. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7966-UIOP-8656

Guild Wars requires a separate account from your Steam account

If you have skipped the account creation process during installation, please complete this process:
Right click this game from the Library in Steam
Select "Manage game account..." to be taken to the NCSoft website
Complete the steps on this site to create a new NCSoft account or login to an existing account
There is also a link to the Steam forum on the page where someone else might have asked the question. Hope this helps.

Sadly it didn't. it said i needed to follow the steps on NCSoft website but it ends up saying "An existing account not listed here
Link & Upgrade Account"
and that doesnt go anywhere.

Had same problem but here...

You just need to go to guild wars in steam(game library), then right click on guild wars. After that you should see View Game CD Key. Your access key should be right there.
After that open up guild wars and make a new account, put all info, then when it ask you to put in access key, just copy & paste.

Hope that helps, any other questions just send me a message on here.

Welcome to guild wars, hf and gl.

At this point all we can recommend is emailing [email protected] with STEAM ACCOUNT PROBLEM in the subject line. Give them all the steps you have taken and include the access key.
