PLEASE READ ON FOR ACTUAL SUGGESTION AFTER RANT
It's all very well and good having this myriad of great new features for chapter 2, most of which I totally agree with, but I find myself stuck on one massive iffy spot. The actual 'factions' bit.(faction war).
Generally speaking its still a brilliant idea, allowing pretty much unlimited replay ability. But think about, this means BIG battles and big battles need big co-operation and not just large scale versions of GvG and HoH battles.
Faction War will need ways for vast groups of players to employ probably complicated tactics such as shock (mounts would be nice here) and ambush.
What I'm saying is GW2 will need ways to implement specail tactics without everything going haywire and still looking vaguely realistic.
Here are a few ideas:
Link shields (protect casters)
Pikes/Spears (to defend key places such as gates or bridges)
Controllable and destroyable gates.
And all of this without massive 'seige' weapons that inflict one hit one kill style play which would obviously make play very frustrating for those that are used for target practice.

well they can employ the gates and briges thing with environment mostly, but having said items in the in-game map area.

i guess they could have archers at high places to defend gates, provided the mapmakers added said higher points, and alowed targeting on opposition players downstairs as it were.

guess such large scale battles will be best played by those that are ether all playing in same room (korean cybercafe players, then) and gangs of gamers all on same teamspeak fequency...

just hope they have observer for that kinda shindig....*selling tickets to watch a verses b guild...multiple behedings garenteed, or your gold back*
