A couple of questions

I have searched and researched but can't find info on:

1) Can you preview armor before you craft it? I would like to see what each looks like before I use the mats.

2) Is there a way to change professions - without deleting a character? I did Not see any "packs" or NPC's that offer this as an option. I am a returning player and would like to keep my B-Days but would love to change a couple of my characters professions.

3) Is there a list or database that shows what mobs drop what items?

Thanks so much in advance for any links or info!

First off, questions go in the Questions and Answers forum.

Wiki: http://www.guildwiki.org/Main_Page

If you want to look at armor sets, search for 'Warrior armor' or 'Elementalist armor' etc.

Secondary professions yes, primary professions no.

Again, wiki. Search for whatever you're looking for.

Wiki is your best friend mate. I always have it up in a second browser while I play. If not its just a /wiki in game away .

Besides checking the wiki armor galleries like Marty suggested there is a forum here on guru where you can request a pic of armors. This is especially helpful if you want to see what different combinations of armor would like like, how certain colors turn out, or if a particular hairstyle will have clipping issues with your headgear.

Thanks for the replies.

Actually I was asking about looking at what armor would look like WHILE IN GAME. Other games have the option of "preview" - so you can see what something will be while you are scanning the options.

I have searched the wiki - hence the first part of my post = researched and searched....

As far as the Profession change - I was really hoping I had missed something and there was a NPC or way to re-build a character.

I also looked for the mob drops - guess I missed that info.

Well GW doesn't have a preview function unfortunately. The closest thing you can find to that is by going into your Hall of Monuments, switching it to account based and then you can see the elite armors you have put on other characters "previewed" on the one you are on.

The only ways you can "rebuild" a character is by purchasing from the ingame store the "makeover" packs. However these can only change the appearance and gender of a current character, not the profession.

When it comes to mob drops you are better off looking at the particular item(s) you want and see if there is a link to a "category: drops x" on the wiki. For example say you want to farm granite slabs. Go to the granite slabs page and you will see a link saying drop research or category: drops granite. That usually links to a page that details all the creatures that drop granite in the game and so on.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, the lack of a "try-on room" is kind of annoying. Though I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to code (ahem, makeover interface), I doubt we'd ever see it at this stage of GW1's life.

As said above, the only way to get an idea of an elite preview is in the Hall of Monuments.

Non-elite, you can buy the low-level versions of the pieces to try on; that will save mats before you make a decision on the max AR version. If you have a character slot open, you can clone yourself as a PvP character and try on the pieces available for free to them.

Beyond that, Guru's Screenshot Requests subforum is the best place to try and get a combo preview.

Have the armour in your inventory and go to apply a dye and the armour will appear on your chacter in the dye preview screen.
You know, I recently started wondering if that would work, but had yet to try. That is a COOL tip.

ETA: OMG, I just tried it -- it works across genders!

No. But you can look at the armor in the wikis to get an idea of how it looks. Or, you can ask/look around for someone wearing that armor.

Yes and no. You can't change a character's profession, but you can, of course, start a new one. If you don't have an empty character slot, you can purchase one from the store.

Wiki
http://www.guildwiki.org/main_page
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

You can, for example, go to the "areas" pages on the wikis to see what monsters are found in an area you are about to go into, and look up each monster to see what it drops.
Or, you can enter the name of the item you are interested in, into the search box and find what monsters drop it.
Etc.
