True, some people may think this is a plus. And maybe it even is!
But one of the many things I love about Guild Wars is the ability to go from using a normal, balanced build to making hilariously single-use gimmick builds.
Looking not just for skill synergy but for such precise skill synergy across the entire skillbar that with such a setup you can utterly dominate certain tasks while being utterly useless for most other.
I guess I'm "worried" that in Guild Wars 2, with the first five skills on your bar depending on the weapon you're holding, we won't be able to set these silly builds up. While it should make the game a lot more balanced (a lot less likely that people can find ridiculous solo-farming builds) I feel like it'll also take out some of the unpredictability or even the sense of discovery when you realize "whoa... this skill and that skill synergize perfectly with that one and that one!"
What do you think? Am I a jerk for even bringing this up? Or do you feel the same way?
Oh, and what's your favorite gimmick build from years past?
I think I still have a fondness for Illusionary Weaponry.
My one worry about GW2: inability to make gimmick builds
