A Humble Q about keeping 90FPS...

For GuildWars; What type of Pc Build do i need to have, to keep a min.60fps consistently? software? hardware?
60-90fps is my aim here.

GW engine's pretty dated, so a dual core with a fairly cheap GeForce 9k+ series (not sure the ATI equivalent is) and 2 GB Ram (1 GB to run it.) does the trick. My old rig of 4 years ran GW fine with 60 fps on those specs, but had to turn off a few environmental effects because they're distracting to play.

I do recall reading that you dont really need to get over 60fps - having high fps was said to do several things like slowly make the graffix card actually do more work and in some circumstances not exactly overheat but reach a higher than normal temp.Also a higher fps is a waste as its having to do textures etc we dont really see.
Mine runs fine at 60fps , i have my graffix on low on everything because even tho everything on high looks gd when standing still but when your fighting a few mobs you aint standing there looking at the scenery going wow its pretty - your fighting so you aint noticing the high rez grass.Eye candy will distract you and get you killed - even recall in outposts your armor is slightly toned down.

As spiritz already pointed out you don't need to get over 60. If you want to boost up your fps but keeping a good look on the game do the following things:turn off vertical sync, set anti-aliasing off aswell, disable the shadows, disable the "use best texture filtering" option and lower the reflections.

Also posting your pc specs would help. Since GW is old even a low budget card as a geforce 7300 can run it.

the 6870 will do 60-90 fps in Guild Wars 2 - it is more than overkill for Guild Wars 1.

@ OP - Are you looking at a brand new computer or are you trying to figure out if your current rig needs to be upgraded? It would help to know what we are dealing with here.

I just got a new laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 5650,
although this may not be the best to play on I do get FPS above 100 on medum settings, and down to 50 when all on max.

I can say by expierence that the ati hd 4870 gets GW a steady 62ish framerate (at 1920x1080) You simply can't tell the difference after 60 frames anyway, it would be overkill or just a way to brag about numbers.

Theres no real point in going over 60 FPS as most Monitors run at 60 Herz. This also means that any frames above 60 FPS, give or take a few, are not displayed by the screen, but the Gfx card has to work harder to create these frames.

As others have said, we would need to know what you are looking for(Upgrade a current PC or completely new build). It would also be helpfull if you said which country you are in as it would not help you much getting Prices of components in the USA if you are in Sweden for example (Prices can vary a lot from country to country).

This. Unless you have a hella-expensive monitor, frames >60 are a waste of electricity.
