No, spirits do not deal Physical Damage.

Nope - both those skills only react with "physical attacks" from bows, spears, swords, axes and hammers - tho whirling defence counts as a physical attack weirdly.

This, but with the limitation of Slashing, piercing, blunt damage. If you equip an elemental mod on a weapon, then MoP and Barbs wont trigger any more on attacks as far as I remember. These damage types are considered elemental instead of physical.

But why would you do that?
Or do you seriously think the Conjures are worthwhile investment?

Barbs and Mark of Pain work with any physical trigger. Spirits don't inflict physical damage, but those two skills (MoP) in particular may be useful to you if your setup includes other reliable damage triggers - Minions, yourself (Hundred Blades is excellent here), Splinter Weapon, etc...

I was always under the impression Splinter Weapon didn't trigger Barbs/MoP because it is armor-ignoring damage rather than physical.

Splinter Weapon deals armour ignoring physical damage.
It is not unique - several other skills have similar behaviour.

Conjure i think ages ago was liked by barrage rangers and eles due to the extra dmg not comming from a preperation which is removed with barrage - it soon got less used when spliter weapon got used more.
Tho i do agree on most melee builds conjure would be a bad investment.

Pretty sure he was just clarifying in case the OP came across any confusion later.
