Prizes await you!

In celebration of the Canthan New Year, GuildWarsGuru is holding a small Haiku contest to ring in the Year of the Rabbit. We have a few prizes to give away so open some fortunes and lets celebrate with some poetry! :]

What is a Haiku? In short it's a Japanese non-rhymed verse genre. The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. (Read more: WikiHow - Write a Haiku Poem)

We can't expect everyone to be able to write a serious Haiku so we're changing it up a bit. Feel free to write something funny, sad, witty, serious or anything you feel! Just make sure it's in some way related to the Canthan New Year. Once you're done, post it here in the thread and our staff will pick 3 winners on Sunday, February 6th 2011.

So I heard there were prizes... It's true! We have a few Melandru and Balthazar costumes to give away. :)

Animal spirits eat them

Celestial Rabbit,
From a summoning stone rise,
Inflicts Seeping Wound.

Making Tasty Food
Opening Lunar Fortunes
Hoping for minis

Oh how they torment
Spirits in Lunar Fortunes
Forever mocking

Another New Year
Sake flowing and friends toast
To another year

Canthan New Year comes
A feast will be glorious
The people rejoice

A reason to play
A fun time for all of us
A Canthan New Year

In this glorious day
Luxon's and Kurzicks Befriend
In Cantha's new year

For Canthan New Year
Will the trolls give it a rest
A resolution

Canthan skies alight
Fireworks explode in night
New year is rung in


Old haiku:

Tiger gone to sleep
Rabbit celebrates new year
Dragon stirs from sleep

A thousand fortunes
Open in expectation.
No rabbit? I'm mad.

Nine Rings once again
Still haven't maxed those titles
Be back on Monday.

The Rabbit overtakes,
Tiger goes to sleep again,
Dragon is waiting.

O Those Rings Of fail,
Have returned take my dosh,
O Why Rabbit Why?
