GameSpot Article With WoC Info

Hey all. Here is a link I posted on GW2guru about GW2, but there is a sweet morsel of info about GW1 in there about the Winds of Change Update. Take a look at it: gamespot article
Eric Flannum: "I just spoke to John Stumme, who heads up the live team, and he told me that their next big project takes place in Cantha and involves the plight of the tengu, the origins of the Ministry of Purity, and the isolation of the entire continent."

hmms but didnt they say that keiran was the last hero we would get? i could be wrong but thats what i thought. i only hope this means we get 7 heros soon. so tired of proph hench monks running into a mob to heal then die or mobs running to heal then pulling mob to us before im ready. ;oo;

Thank you for the link. Nice story.

I could use a fourth ele hero! Using M O X for the earth spells is not effective enough.

Yawn. Whenever they focus on the 'storyline' and 'lore' they tend to forget the most important part. Gameplay and REAL content. If they bothered to throw in a real skill update with it then it may be interesting.

It should be a Paragon afterall the Tengu have wings.

love how everyone speaks for everybody now.
Keiran sees a spot in most of my parties. A third mesmer would definitely see a role. As for assassin...they really need to work on sin AI before I go that far.

If we get another hero in WoC, I reckon it'll either be a Tengu assassin or mesmer, or Ghostly Togo ritualist (appearing as "Ghostly Ritualist" if you bring it in missions where Togo appears). Togo was heavily involved in the plight of the Tengu in his youth (as seen in the BMP), and as the Tengu are the focus of WoC I can see him getting involved again.

A tengu ritualist would be super cool. Not only would it be useful, but they have some nice models from EotN to adjust slightly to give it a more unique ritualistic appearance.
It would also be a cool throw back to Togo's close relationship with the tengu, him being a ritualist and all.
As far as a time line, I'm feeling a lot more patient. Coming out the other end of a category 5 cyclone and dealing with an entire city without power for 4 days scavenging for ice, fuel and basic food supplies, the wait for the dervish update and embark beach looks like foot rub atm.

Seriously, no one needs another hero there are so frickin' many already. What would be nice is the 8-month long Dervish update. It's ridiculous that they're talking like they've already gotten the damn thing out of the door and we haven't even gotten to see the preview that comes weeks before the actual update.
I'd like to see them caring about GW1 as a separate entity instead of trying to RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up more things by adding alot of stuff on top of the game they screwed up JUST so they can bridge it to GW2, getting people to buy their next flawed product.

I kinda agree. Not with the post in itself, but on the idea. There are too many posts from Anet every months such as " we plan now to do this , this will be very cool " . Sure ok , but where are the previous cool things?? Is it going to end up like GW hearts of the north , i.e a way to introduce new costumes ??

The sad thing is... it wouldn't surprise me
Edit: If the skill updates coincides with a costume pack featuring Dhumm, Varesh etc costumes, I WILL punch a baby in the face.

After reading the derv posts I remembered a quote and just thought I'd remind all of you:
"We have a few large balance projects underway right now. Because today's update is not directly related to any of these large balance projects, we want to clarify what's in the works:
* Guild battles. We are currently working with the Test Krewe on major possible changes to GvG. This is our top priority, but we expect it to require months to fully test, tune, and compare the changes we are exploring. Today's update is not related to any of the major changes we are testing, but it should address a few of the issues currently seen in GvG.
* Dervish balance. We are also working on changes to the Dervish, with both PvE and PvP in mind. This is our second priority, and it may or may not be ready at the same time as the GvG changes.
It definately wasn't ready at the same time as the GvG changes. I remember when I first read this. I thought this meant they were going to release both updates in relatively close proximity to each other and even thought/hoped they might both have been released at the same time. LOL I was wrong.

Have to admit I don't get what is taking so long with the 7hero update. What are they considering before making it? Balance? I don't see why, it's a given it will buff the player power. UI? that might be it if they want to give full control of all 7 heroes.
Ministry of Purity sounds like an interesting storyline... but yeah, sinse it's GW, that also hits at a lot of screen-staring during "cinematics".Am I the only one who thinks it's not the gameplay the main problem with GWB, but the fact the story is told through in-game chat. It'd add job, but audio tracks would make it so much easier to go throught.
But a sin would make so much sense! More than a rit IMO. (real mythology) Tengus, are supposed to be trickster.

Well, that is based on how much we know of ANET's consistency :P

Lore is simply writing, but quests are content. Thinking GW: Beyond is just "lore" is completely untrue. If it was only that, we'd have articles to read, not a game to play and rewards to earn. To say again, I think skill updates are really needed, but if I had a choice of what I want more, I want to play a new adventure. My cool new skill functionality will be pretty boring when I have nothing new to do.
I understand there is a strong PvP sentiment that skill balancing is their entire experience. While I sympathize with that, asking that everything be shut down until everything is up to snuff would take forever. After the dervish, the ele, ranger and paragon will be waiting, and I for one don't intend to wait 2 years before I get new quests, costumes and other enjoyables.

It is funny too because I always hear so much whining from the GvG crowd which is immensely smaller than the PvE crowd and yet I didn't see any praise for ANet from the GvG crowd when this was announced. I guess it is true that bots don't read forums.
lemming
What do you expect us to be praising?
Del
Or they could focus on important things.
GvGers should praise Anet for adding gvg to this list of things they say they'll do, then never get around to it?

I'm sorry, unlike yourself and Anet, when I say I'll do something I don't wait 8 months to do it. It is important because Anet said they'll do it. If it wasn't important, it wouldn't be on the list.
Ffs, they made factions/nf in nearly as much time as the Dervish update took. As said before, it really doesn't matter how good the update is at this point, its just another point where Anet's word should be taken with a grain of salt. And yes, balance of my favorite class is important, thanks.

What makes you believe they've not worked on it on/off for the entire time? You don't know the amount of work on their plates or what their day to day is, none of us do.
