April Fools Event Skills and Idea
You will be able to attack people and NPC's in the outpost or town, the outposts will become an immediate explorable area upon entering/zoning.
For people who are not interested in this event, a certain amount of 'normal' districts will be designated or the 'event' can only occur in the international districts
There are several variations of what it could come down to and would be the first event with a reward.
Event Mechanics
- Deaths do not count as an actual death
- Death penalty will not be induced upon dying
- NPC's will randomly resurrect a player every 5-10 seconds
- NPC's provide a +2% Morale Boost to player if killed
- NPC's can randomly be resurrected by other NPC's
- NPC's are hostile, but do not attack other than using a regular weapon
- NPC's do not have to be killed to win the round
- Consumables cannot be used
- Summoning stones cannot be used
- Title skills cannot be used
- No experience will be rewarded for kills
- Resurrected players count as a kill if killed again
- Storage will be locked for the duration of the battle
Possible Variations of Event
- Last Man Standing
- Most Kills in a Set Time
Last Man Standing
As the name denotes it would be the last man standing that wins the reward
Last Man Standing Mechanics
- District will be closed until the battle is concluded
- District will be reopened once a battle is concluded and all the players will be resurrected
- Players will not be able to target each other or NPC's once the district is reopened
- There will be a 5 minute delay until the next battle starts, denoted by a timer
- NPC's count as a kill
Last Man Standing Reward
- A glowing red aura around the character for a short peroid of time
- X amount of Gladiator points for amount of people killed
- X amount of bronze Zaishen coins for amount of people killed
The amount of coins will be based on the amount of people defeated, gladiator points will be worked out in a ratio of perhaps 5:1 or 3:1.
The reason for it being based on x-amount of people killed is to avoid someone leeching by waiting until only one person is left or everyone is killed.
Most Kills a in Set Time
This version will be similar to last man standing, but the mechanics are slightly different.
Most Kills a in Set Time Mechanics
- A time limit of 5-10 minutes will be set on each match
- NPC's cannot be killed and carry a permanent 'unyielding' aura', which immediately resurrect fallen player to their position
- District will not be closed for the battle
- Players joining after the round started will be given a 3 minute 'invincible' state
- Players will not be able to attack while invincible
- Once the previous round has ended a 5 minute gap is given until the next one starts.
Most Kills in a Set Time Rewards
- A glowing yellow aura around the character for a short peroid of time
- X amount of Gladiator points for amount of people killed
- X amount of bronze Zaishen coins for amount of people killed
I don't know whether 'team' battles would work so well, as this is already leaning a lot towards PVP battles.
Skills & Other Stuff
The skills will be limited similar to that of the Codex Arena and everyone who enters the district will automatically have the skills unlocked and ready for use.
If you are under level 20, your health, energy and armor will automatically be adjusted to that of a level 20 character by the means of an aura, all attributes will be set to maximum.
Secondary professions will be negated for the rounds.
Runes, insignias, weapons and their mods will not be negated for the battles, which can prove as an advantage.
In the period that a character is either invincible or in the gap between the rounds the storage will open up and he/she will be able change skills, weapon, armor and anything else.
For that period of time, none of the NPC's will be available except the storage system.
WELL, that's my 'thought of it at a random second' idea.
EDIT: Random Similar Idea Now
Just make that everyone can randomly attack each other and NPC's in town, leaving an entire game with a bunch of dead merchants making it one Hell of an annoying day for anyone with a full storage/inventory, for example, once a NPC is killed, he will stay dead for a few hours, or the duration of the day.
OR
Make the storage box run AWAY from you at the speed of the wintersday grentches, you'll have a bunch of people running after their 'loot'.
You guys were right, this idea is not suitable at the current development of Guild Wars and the upcoming Guild Wars 2, but the top two 'other' ideas should be easy enough to do and would cause quite the unpleasant stir, as to be expected from April Fools day.
