Ritualist Feather farm, is SoS really a good choice?
Gabs88
I've been playing around a bit now with the feather farm outside of Seitung Harbour. And from my attempts up uintill now, i've figured that I can kill them way faster with destructive was glaive then I could with spirits. In fact, using spirits in the first place seems like a pure old bad idea, since spirits by nature are armor ignoring and therefore doesnt benefit from the low level of the mobs beeing farmed.
Anyone have a good idea for a DWG based build that would be capable of doing this reliably?

I run SoS in Jaya Bluff's all the time and it works pretty smooth and quick. Summon Spirits helps speed things up here too. I run the Pure Channeling Build. I don't think DWG would be any faster especially solo. One of the things SoS provides is meat shield as well to soak up damage, since your flying solo you've got no healer to tote around. They may be lower level but they can still kill you if your not careful. SoS lets you set it and walk away from the fight till everything's dead.

SoS is singletarget slowness. Try using a fire pbaoe bar, like Serpent's Quickness, Dwarven Stability, Inferno, Flame Burst or whatever, Snow Storm, FLame Djinn's Haste and that fire elite that gives +2 fire attribute.

Double Dragon is the elite you are speaking about. This build is the build I use for farming feathers. I think it's reasonably fast, and I would imagine it's a lot faster than spirits. So if you have an ele that can do this then I would suggest you try it.
I'm thinking you probably want to do it as a rit, either because you have to or want to, and I don't see why it should be a problem. If you Arcane Echo DwG and bring ancestors you should be able to kill them fairly quickly, I'd have thought. Maybe bring spirit rift. That leaves you with 3-4 skills to keep yourself alive. Since you will be /Me you could try Ether Feast. Or could you take some spirits from Restoration. Also, Physical Resistance is in Inspiration magic too, so that and Ether Feast might be alright.

SoS + Necrosis. Use either Painful Bond or Shadow Song as primer for Necrosis. This helps you focus damage on healers or certain targets first, and as less mobs remain they will take more heavy damage from spirits.
I used this a lot against Pine Souls outside Boreal Station in HM, I'm sure it would equally well against birds.

I use an Earth Ele build; OgNDkMz9QpC0CgEfV4g7QLRZDA
Once you're all enchanted with the Attunement, aura of restoration, and healing breeze; you run in and cast the Armor skill and Intensity. When they're all around you, you cast the three damage skills in succession and they're dead.

I haven't kept up with the times apparently haha, is DwG better over VwK(what I currently feather farm with)?
Fay Vert
Fast kills equals fewer drops due to the loot nerf so be careful you don't kill too fast or you defeat the object of the exercise.
Captain Bulldozer
I haven't actually tried this, so you should probably take it with a grain of salt, but a 330 rit with VwK might work pretty fast there, at least against the tengu. Some of the Yetis have KD as I recall, so you might want to let the tengu kill em first. If you don't like VwK and would prefer DwG instead, the same basic idea behind the 330 rit might work out ok with DwG and channeling instead (though you'd need to be hitting spirit bond more often). I'll give it a try sometime and see how well it works...

Personally I like the echo DwG build better. It seems faster to me, but that may be because it is more interactive and you don't just sit there waiting. You can find the build on PvX. I am at school right now, or I would post it.

No death, no pressure and it's very fast build. 5th skill can be changed.

echo DwG with some healing, 10min runs

I average 10-11 mins with the above build. =)

I get 8-10 min runs with this build (Any/Rt).

Soul Reaping doesn't help out too much, so I'm sure you can run this on other classes. Always try to pull at least 2 groups together and away from the Yeti bosses. Resilient + IAU when pulling more than 1 group, spam Wielder's Boon, VWK after Resilient is out, wait 5 secs for Darkfeathers to ball, then use the damage spells for a big boom. I've been experimenting with BUH in place of LoD, but I can't see a difference in killing speed. It takes a while to get an efficient path, but when you do, those single digit runs start piling up.

The build i use is VwK. Works amazing, theres never a health problem (i farmed with 30 armor for a while no problem), and it kills quick and easy:
Resto 15
Channeling 12
Generous was tsungrai (can be replaced if your careful)
VwK
Spirit Rift
Lamentation
Ancestors rage
Mend Body and soul
IAU
Essence bond
Just cast essence bond, run past the yetis and get to the tengu (use IAU if necessary), and pull a few groups together. Cast VwK and then spam the attack spells, mend body and soul when needed and Generous was tsungrai if you are in big trouble. Energy is never a problem with essence bond so works great. PM me in game if you have any questions.

echo Vwk is the way to go imo, gets you all up close and personal. and you dont even need a full bar. 10-15 min runs

if we're talking NM, any /rt can do it with the three rit damage skills, including VwK, Ancestors Rage, and Spirit Rift. I use a r/rt with 12 channel, 12 resto, and rest wilderness (+3, +1)...the other 5 skils I use are BuH!, Light of Deldrimor, Troll, Stormchaser and Dwarven Stability...target the dark feathers to draw them into range of damage skills
all radiant runes and attunement insignias and I carry a Droknar's Resto focus (20/20) and a Droknar's Channel wand (20/20)
A run takes 9-11 max once you get the route down, there is about 16 mobs total. Use the cheapest salvage kit on scalps, for runes I use an expert kit. One run will fill my inventory and there are lots of dye drops (luckiest run for me was one black and one white in same run). After a while you will be doing this run in your sleep it's that easy
There are a bunch of other past threads with this same type of info and build comparisons

I run seitung for feathers on my rit primary sometimes my build is:
16 channeling
12 shadow arts
DwG
Ancestors Rage
Light of Deldrimor
By urals hammer
shroud of distress
feigned neutrality(shadow sanctuary would probably be better)
dark escape
dash
You can die with this build if you wait too long for aggro to settle, at least it will keep you on your toes so you don't get bored.

I farm feathers both with my Rit (running a standard SoS spirit spam build), and with my Ele (using the Double Dragon fire build).
My Ele takes less time (about 8 minutes opposed to 15), but also gets a bit less than half of the drops as my Rit does. So I stick with SoS for that.
I've tried VwK for farming birdies but never really liked it that much.
