Chances are it is something in the works that was prematurely added in the dervish update.
Sounds like it could be a method for getting the survivor title even after death, or they could simple be changing what is required to get the survivor title. (aka, no quest rewards).

If you look at the message carefully, you'll notice that @ "and have gained experience since . . ."
There are 2 spaces between gained and experience, indicating there's a variable inbetween those.

I posted a similar thread yesterday but it was deleted flat out. With GW2 coming out and people who never got their survivor having to turn to one of the massive grind titles, it might make sense if they want to even the playing field a bit.

Anyway John Stumme has written on wiki "these are not the droids you are looking for" to throw us off the trail. Chances are it was something they were testing which managed to make its way into the build.

I think it might just be for peoples curiousity, I think adding it so people can get survivor after dieing once is total bs. I do need the title on my main toon and I still feel this way...

Meh, if you can get 1,377,500 exp without dieing during the time period you earned the exp, you are worthy of the survivor title, regardless if you have died previously. There is no difference in the earning of the exp whether it is with a new character or an old character.

the first rank of survivor is way to easy to consider in this, it's between rank 1-3 that is time consuming. So a completely new character or someone 5 years old gaining 1,337,500 should both have the right to earn the title.

To the people who disagree with me, come on and face it. You know it and I know it. Things get easier as generations go on in an MMO. It's a fact of life in MMO style. You can still have the braging rights and prestiegeous thought of doing it the old way. If you are worried about what and how other people think of how you got the title, go outside.

John Stumme already confirmed in the wiki talk page for the 20110217 update they are making changes to some of the titles. From the sound of it the /deaths "...and gained experience since death" output crept into the live gw build by mistake.
With Embark Beach coming out I am speculating some of the titles are being adjusted for it (directly or indirectly), especially if they are actually going to implement "7-hero" parties -- I can not imagine anyone wanting to pug with human players after that feature goes live. LOL.

However, I do agree that all characters (especially those who were created before the Survivor title came out, that died) should have a chance at this title. Should the "new" Survivor title work like the current one (based on simply earning 1,337,500 exp without dying) I will likely go with skill capping -- certainly cheaper and less time-consuming than buying 174+ Kathandrax hammers, and less of a grind as with other methods :-P

I hope they don't give you another chance to get survivor after you have died. You are not a survivor then by definition. We already have enough easy titles to get, we don't need to add another.

I imagine that it would never stop, only set to 0 when you die.
So Survivor would stay as it is, but new title would give a chance to other's.

It would be total bullshit, sins can easily do UW and gain 150k exp every hour... and it really doesn't matter if you die cause you can just do it agian...also sins/eles/paras/mesmers/ warriors/monks/dervs can do vaettir farming and easily get 1.3mil exp in a day

And if your new survivor character dies, you can just re-create it. Granted it would take longer to do it on a character like that than other ways of farming with normal characters, but meh. And if you can do UW for multiple runs without a fail, i think that is worth survivor, lol. Harder than traditional ways. If you can grind out 1.3 mil on vaettir without making a mistake and dropping, i think that would be worth survivor too.
Both are way more valid ways of achieving survivor than say buying hammers, even if you can make multiple attempts until you are successful.

If they are planning on allowing the Survivor title to be obtained after death, then it goes against everything that has ever been said. Legendary Defender of Ascalon REQUIRES death, so after someone gets it, he or she can just farm 1,337,500 experience without dying to get both? That isn't right, they have always been mutually exclusive, why should that change now? I'd also like to take my Paragon into Pre-Searing Ascalon so I can get Legendary Defender of Ascalon on him, so if they allow Survivor to be obtained after death, I better be able to bring my Paragon into Pre-Searing.

LDoA and Survivor wasn't made mutual by design, technically you can gain both if you just managed to get the xp for it. They just happen to be mutually exclusive now due to deaths required.
Reasong for keeping them mutual in the past has most likely either been to unwillingness by Anet to change either of the titles as they were. Now if survivor change to count experience after last death, I have no problem with it. By all means give people one more point to their HoM if they need and takes the effort for it, don't force people to delete old characters for a mere title.
I killed wurms outside Boreal Station using cheap 400g 5-min scrolls, giving 924 exp/kill. The run including killing 10 wurms took 3 minutes so that's average ~3k exp/min, or ~185k/hour... risk free compared to UW, and can be done without ascension that's required to enter UW.
