Say hallo to one of the most broken general PvE tanks in the game!
With Pious Renewal you can permanently mantain Kinetic armor with no drawbacks. That is a perma +60 armor!!!
If that isn't enough, we have Veil of Thorns which reduces spell damage by a shit loads.
All this while not taking away from offense whatsoever! Throw on Aura of Holy Might and Pious Renewal with maybe one more teardown for enchantment juggling craziness.
Is this build insane or what?
tl;dr: Kinetic Armor is perma-mantained no problem with Pious Renewal and Veil of Thorns makes not even spells break you!

I'm not an expert of tank 'n spank, but doesn't anywhere worth tanking also has a crapload of enchant stripping?

Main problem is keeping kinetic up between battles. Because stopping for 3s to cast a skill is definitely a hit to your offense. Pious Renewal lasting exactly 8s is going to be an issue if you don't have an out-of-combat teardown. I don't think this is for pious renewal builds, but could easily go on a derv build with a 6r or 2+ 10r flash enchants.
The second problem then is speccing into earth magic, and whether giving up wind/earth prayers is really worth it, when you could be using mirage cloak or attacker's insight which are also teardown food.
Edit: forgot you could recast renewal @ 8s even if its been extended. >_< Small energy tax for not ending renewal but it should work fine. In a PR build you can skip wind/earth prayers and afford some earth magic.

Foxbat, use an enchantment extension weapon. You will never have to ever cast kinetic armor EVER unless it gets stripped. Bring Pious Fury to instantly recharge Pious Renewal if all hells breaks loose.

I don't see why people doubt this build before trying it out.. This cuts the monks' needs to heal you in half! And of course, it doesn't reduce your overall damage either. Is a free +60 armor really that bad?

Kinetic works fine on any Pious Renewal bar. Actually it would fit on any other bar that can afford some to spam at least 1 enchant every 9 seconds. You can just spec 6 earth and 13 mysticism for +44 armor. You might be able to drop mysticism a bit more depending on your attacks skills, PR is quite an energy engine. The key is that flash enchantments don't slow you down, and thus kinetic is not a big deal to maintain between combats as it would be with any previous build.
People will come in and point out "lacks SY" or "lol tanks" and it will thus never end up on PvXWiki, but if you want extra self-protection for whatever reason, this is a fairly cheap option.

Why does a derv need +60 armor? Im not understanding it. If i had a derv in my team id rather they just focus all their attributes and effort on dealing some kick ass damage. I dont need them wasting anything on buffing their own armor and health/regen.
Maybe i just dont play derv enough, do you have trouble staying alive? Heros/henchies have never had a problem keeping me alive

I don't see it as a combo and if they can keep an assassin or warrior alive, they can keep a dervish alive. I also don't see Kinetic Armor that great or in an attribute that would offer much else.

1) Heart of Fury? Pious Fury is infinity more useful in a build using Pious Renewal

youve had a lot of stick for this but i have been runnning OgajkopLrSbXSXPXcf7X9gygmCA for a few days now and have beenn very succesful in both HM and NM with no deaths i can recall and substantial AoE damage

This reminds me of all the tank debates on warrior forums. Theres 2 things im gonna say.
1 if theres no enchant removal then just run Prot Spirit & SoA on a hero and micro it onto urself as you take aggro, and then ull be fine. 2 If there is enchant removal, or ur running this option you have access to elites which will give you better damage. |
