Next GWAMM Profession?
Sin Maxx
Hey, guys.
After just reaching my GWAMM on my Warrior, I am wondering.. For my next main character are there any professions anyone would recommend, and why? I would love to play a caster.. As I haven't very much before, so no "Physical" classes.
So yeah, either:
-Ritualist
-Necromancer
-Mesmer
-Elementalist
-Monk
(Was really considering either necro or rit).
All responses highly appreciated.

Rit would be my first choice.
Qcho
Rt>Mes>Nec in this order ,Rt and Mes are most versatile after last updates so it would be my main choice wiht necro much later .
Argaen
Mesmer, was my 3ยบ GWAMM. Versatile, strong and funny to play.
AndrewSX
Mez or Nec, than the Rit. Monk if you like heal. Avoid Ele if your aim is GWAMM.
Argaen
Bad Company Sin
Rit if you want easy mode on HM/Vanq poop spirits n sit back.
Mesmer meh.
Necro, /yes.
Mesmer meh.
Necro, /yes.
cataphract
My choice would be necro. Steamroller on autopilot.

I got GWAMM on my Mesmer - had a blast doing it even before the Mesmer Buff.
Now I'm going after it with a Rit and so far, it's not much of a challenge.

Ritualist: simply because it's easier to get into pugs for a lot of the harder missions in the game with one + you can farm a lot of more places with a Ritualist.

I'd go for Monk, Rit, then Ele. I have a Necro and a Mesmer but I particularly like playing them.
Sin Maxx
Hmm. Mixed responses. I see mesmer and ritualist a lot though. Keep them coming!
Why?
definitely rit. Hard Mode is nothing compared to the powers of spirit spam.
Whirl E Vic
I vote Nec.
Spirit spam is boring.
Spirit spam is boring.
Neith
I would vote rit then necro, yes you can spam but that gets boring, yes you can dwg but meh, go rit cause you have a lot more choice, you can heal, spam, coommune with one another or channel your anger . I would prefer non spirit spamming rits in my party as I've learned that makes my job as monk boring when I dont have the challenge of having to heal anyone. I play my monk a lot and enjoy it when its a challenge. My second choice would be necro though.
FengShuiDove
Rit.
I like playing different builds, and Rit can do a lot of neat things with secondaries too. My main account's GWAMM was Assassin, and I loved the ability to play /D, /R, Daggers, caster, whatever. Rit is much the same from a caster perspective.

i vote mesmer !

Go Ele! All the cool kids get GWAMM on their Ele's!

If you can't decide for yourself, you're not ready to be going for another GWAMM anyways.

Necro is the most versatile. You can heal, do lots of damage as a SS.
You can go support as a minion master or you can spirit spam.

Wyndy
If I did a 2nd GWAMM, it would be my Rit because I already use her for everything.

if you want to be hardcore go with the most suckiest HM class... ele
otherwise stay with easier classes

otherwise stay with easier classes Actually, ele isn't the suckiest class atm because they can still do some reasonable damage. It's the monks who suck most now, no 600 and smiting isn't exactly all that great even with ROJ

I'd agree that Rit, Mesmer and Necro are the best options. For myself, I'd rank them as follows:
1. Mesmer -- Just pure fun to play IF you know how to play them well. They were great before the recent buff and now are even better. You can hex, interrupt, spread conditions, spike and do AoE dmg all on the same bar if you want. I like a Me/N myself. Remember, mesmer skills almost always deal armor ignoring dmg, which makes a HUGE difference in HM.
2. Ritualist -- Also fun to play, but gets boring over time. Poop out your spirits, sit back and recast as needed. Or you could go another direction and play support (which of course is harder to play well, especially with H/H). You could even be a silly front-line DwG rit if you wanted.
3. Necro -- Fun to play and usually has little to no energy problems, especially if your group is using minions (which it should be in HM). The curses line is borderline OP and death magic offers some nice options as well. Necro would be better than mesmer for a player with a less active playstyle (meaning someone who wants to NOT be casting every few seconds and have their finger on the mouse button waiting for interrupts). Necros also offer good support, both through the blood line and through secondary profs charged by soul reaping.
My first caster that I seriously played was a rit (long before the SoS buffs) and ever since I've enjoy casters far more than melee.

Necro. Minions win the game, as does MoP (orders + strength of honor if you run melee players not heroes). Minions + MoP on the same team is ridiculous. The SS is used in SCs; 41DPS+ w/ 10 seconds recharge elsewhere.
* debuffs: weaken armor, enfeebling blood are always welcome
* buffs: Barbs, Mark of Pain (MoP), orders, dark fury (like orders) , blood bond
Mesmer if you have really good people to help you because you won't be doing some missions as easily. Only place you're in high demand is in DoA. It's not that they're bad (far from that) but that they don't have synergy (okay Stolen speed, but you waste an elite slot). Panic/Keystone signet/Ineptitude+Clumsiness+wandering Eye makes your SS necro hate you so tell them to run Minions/MoP. Can also run Assassin's Promise + Arcane Echo + Vanguard sin support or Fevered dreams.
* Visions of Regret is overrated, it's on 15-20 cooldown and only works against skill spam. Enchanter's Conundrum is very gimmicky but is basically 100ish damage on 6-8 cooldown. E-surge is also mediocre, with 90-100ish AOE on 10-12 cooldown. MindWrack-Shatter Delusions is decent damage unlike the aforementioned, if you're willing to deal with the energy it'll be 100 or so damage for 10 energy roughly every 4-5 seconds, without needing an elite slot (putting it ahead of enchanter's conundrum).
* Mesmers bring interrupts to the table, unlike Necros which are more or less debuff/buff machines (keystone signet, psychic instability, cry of pain, cry of frustration, panic, mistrust, wandering eye, clumsiness/ineptitude, power spike). You have some skills that double as energy management (arcane conundrum, power drain, leech signet, tease) and some other auxiliary function (hex eater signet, drain enchantment, inspired hex/inspired enchantment).
* in general wastrel's worry/wastrel's demise works very well with Panic mesmers
Rit is boring to play but they're wanted everywhere. SoS is 180+DPS with only Painful Bond, SoS, Bloodsong ... although it's single target. Soul twist+shelter+union+displacement is a powerful protter, used in DOA also. SOGM is like SoS with more skill slots used. Restor rits with spirit channeling can sub in for monks.
You won't want to vanquish with a Monk main. The only decent damage is ROJ, which is [email protected] + 8s burn =352 total damage in adjacent every 20 seconds (10 if you run arcane echo).
Eles: do 70.7% or less damage to all enemies with 100+armor even after cracked armor. Sometimes you do 37% if you don't run cracked armor (vs 120 armor). Only "good" build is ER Prot which is not damage. Assassin's Promise stuff is better on N/A MoP although E/A with Eruption + Churning Earth has its uses. Fire is useless in Hard mode more or less, unless you run DOTs with Ebon Standard of Honor to get +75 damage on pitiful damage you're lucky to get 3/4 of your listed damage.
* In areas with 3 enemies per group (ascalon) Invoke Lightning + chain lightning + Intensity is decent but not spectacular since you devote 2 slots in your your skillbar to attunement+ glyph/Aura of restoration. Once you add more skills you will need more energy management. Orb will do 100-140 regularly, Invoke will do 63-140 depending on if there's 120 armor targets.

I agree with everything LifeInfusion said and would also go a Necromancer if I had to choose. Incredibly versatile caster with lots of aces up his sleeve. But honestly, make one of each and go with whatever is the most fun. Taking on GWAMM on a character you don't enjoy to play is ridiculous.
Hells Fury
Go outside and play.
I would have the nerves to do 2nd gwamm even if someone payed me to get it. (*flashback cartography horrors*)
But Rit nevertheless.

This. The mesmer AP build is more powerful than most people realized.

I'm on my way to GWAMM with both my favourite chars: necro and mesmer, so i would recommend one of those.
