Not Getting Ancient Armor Remnants/Mysterious Armor Pieces?

Hey guys! I was just doing the Remains of Sahlahja and Shadow Nexus challenge quests to get my heroes hero armor. I got them for all armor except for Razah and Zenmai (who I just got), but I can't seem to make them drop anymore. I did the Sahlahja challenge mission at least 10 times, and usually I get one or two armor pieces in 3-4 games, but this time I'm not. D: The same happened with the Shadow Nexus...

I think it is set up so that you only get a few after that you have to score really high to get them....so I usually use another character to get others I need.

Really? That sucks. D:

I've been getting the Sunspear Armor fine, though... Ok I'll just get my Paragon to go to remains of Sahlahja. :P

The drop rate starts decreasing after you get a few hero upgrades. I usually just give up and buy the armor instead.

What cosyfiep said.

After the first 4, the drop rate is insanely low unless you score really high.

I bought my final fifth Mysterious Armor Piece because I just couldn't get it to drop.

Seems a silly game mechanic that encourages players to buy rather than play the game and earn the pieces.

I suppose it encourages multi-player activity since you have to trade with other players but its still silly imo.

By comparison though, think about what would happen if the armor drops were consistent. People would farm them until there are lots of them in the community, the selling price would drop as the supply increases, and then there will be a point where they get so cheap that it's quicker and easier to just buy the armor rather than do the mission (which is actually a bit tricky, relative to general PvE). It's like what happened with Althea's Ashes. At least with how it is now it's possible and worthwhile to get them all yourself. You either get some and buy some or get them all if you score highly (apparently). I got 7 in an hour or two so it's definitely possible to not have to resort to buying them, getting them on other characters, or waiting a long time for a reset (again, apparently).

Played the Shadow nexus yesterday and got 1 piece. Tried again and killed two margonites but the the game froze in a way that no rifts opened up anymore. I just wandered around awhile and nothing happened. I had to map out and restart to play again.....very strange

What I have found is a great variation in player skill and because some are either very skilled or just have loads of time a particular game resource floods the market.

Anet respond to this by reducing the drop rate, this slows down the great players but makes it tougher for the casual player who wants to gain things by playing not buying.

I suppose a gradual drop off in rate is a reasonable alternative

Shadow Nexus is paaaaaaaaainfully slow. The other two I got all the pieces I needed, and Ancient stopped dropping after 6. Of course, I was #4 on the daily high chart in Sahlahja, so score may have been a factor in getting past 4 pieces.

I'd do each mission 2-3 times per character, fill out one character's HoM, and sell the rest.
