GW will Minimize and Maximize on Zone
NerfHerder
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 and added an EVGA GTX460 video card. Now whenever I play GW and I zone, GW will minimize to desktop for about a second, then GW will maximize again. It does not interfere with my gameplay but is REALLY annoying. I searched this forum and found others that had this problem, but none had a solution that worked for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled old and new video drivers with no change. I do run GW from my D: drive, but never had this issue with my last build. Is it my video card or Windows? Any thoughts?

I played on both Windows 7 Home Premium, and on Windows 7 Ultimate, both 64bit. I haven't seen any issues like the ones you describe. No idea about the graphics card though, did you download and upgrade to the latest drivers? Try another graphics card perhaps to see if it's related to it and it's drivers?

Similar problem been happening on my vista home premium 32 system for a last few months.
Mine closes to the task bar and I have to bring it back myself.
Doesn't happen all the time just occasionally.
I put it down to either my graphics card or a direct x issue, have put in new drivers to see if that helps.
I also had a few colour glitches around drakkar lake which is another reason I changed the drivers.

Why?
happens to me to. Not a big deal as it is only a second. Def a windows graphics issue.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and my Guild Wars is on the D: drive. However, I have an AMD/ATI based card instead of nVidia. I don't have this problem and have no solution other than to suggest you check the Guild Wars shortcut (or make one, if you are running from the Games folder), and see if there are any funky command line arguments like "-mce" or w/e.

Try to run GW.exe in compatability mode (from properties menu), and select the Windows Vista (latest update, which will be pack 2) option.
This was able to sort out the blackout moments i used to have whenever i zoned.

When it happens, is there a bubble message saying "your desktop scheme has been changed to vista basic" or something like that?

For some strange reason I had to copy my skill templates to C: now. But those are small files. Thanks for help. I'm much happier now.

Thanks for the various vista comments/suggestions I will try them out.
No message when the screen closes down.
One thought was that my Graphics card is a bit basic its an Nvidia 8600 GT which has 256 dedicated memory and uses system memory when needed up to another 750.
I am running with 4 gig so that shouldn't cause a problem but its not a perfect situation.
Did plan on a graphics card upgrade but had to replace the monitor so am a little behind with that plan.
