LDoA and Drunkard suggestion
GWfan#1
Hello, the new updates to LDoA and Drunkard have some players very disappointed that they spent so much time on their titles when now players can achieve them much faster.
My suggestions to satisfy the players that attained their titles the old fashioned way.
#1: Implement /deaths (character name)
/deaths (character name) will allow a player to lookup how many times another player has died.
This will show if characters deathleveled~
Bonus* can also show old school Survivors/those who did it the old fashioned way.
#2: Implement /drunk (character name)
/drunk (character name) will allow a player to lookup the amount of time another player has been drunk. 10,000+ minutes would show an old school drunkard.
These are my suggestions to make the veteran title attainers happy, instead of changing the old titles gold or something like that (which would be cool too).

There is little to zero way for Anet to tell if you did it old school way or not, at least for death-leveling.
A-net has also addressed in one of the Wartower videos ( I think) that they have little to no desire to change titles just for people who did it before the change

Do we really care so much that we would actually use this to see who got the titles the "right" way?
I don't...

this is just a waste, many titles have been changed. It doesn't matter who did pre/post patch. Allowing people to obtain an otherwise outrageous title is very efficient. Wasted time coding such a minor bonus is worthless.

What about the people with macros and bots that got the title[drunkard]? Personally I really don't care and I'm happy they actually made these changes. I'm one of the people that powerleveled a friend with a 55 monk in Elona reach killing minotaurs for SIX MONTHS (before factions came out) to get survivor and I don't give 2 ****s that this change was implemented. These changes reduce the grind that these titles required. They wont add extra emotes for people to feel like they wasted their time (every game is a time killer) so just deal with it and move along.
Resha
How would they show how people did suvivor "the old fashioned way" exactly? I'd really like to know how you think they would do this, and no, I don't think they should put in anything like this. Complete waste of time. Titles are mostly all meaningless anyways.
Del
Complete waste of time. People need to cut out this epeen bullshit.

If there was any merit to the old methods of obtaining these titles, then the titles would not have been changed. There's no point to having changed the titles to something different and then going back to do something that gives credit to those who had done things the old way.
Shriketalon
If the only value of a title to someone is feeling better than other people who don't have it or those who didn't do something equally irritating to get it, there are severe problems that go far beyond the game. This sort of behavior shouldn't be encouraged.

Regardless, I suppose the old timers just have to deal with it.

You know, once you obtain LS and die, you still retain the title. So, the odds of this method being accurate is very low anyways.

To be honest, anyone who achieved these titles the old way shouldn't really be proud of it. I mean, come on, what a total waste of time. Death leveling, really?? what a joke. These title required no skill to achieve, only time. Both of these title were broke and Anet fixed them. Good job Anet.
Early on in the Guild Wars game it was known as a game without the grind. Low level cap, easily reached in short amount of time. Easily obtainable max gear. You get the idea. No grind = fun to play. Somewhere along they way this all went terribly wrong. As more and more people completed the campaigns the community started to focus more on titles. Unfortunately some of these titles were the ultimate grind fest. Something this game was not supposed to be. LDoA and Drunkard were the worst offenders. Spend 10,000minutes drunk, LOL,sounds fun but I think I will pass. Let some mob kill me hundreds of times, hmmmmm, sounds fun right? It is nice to see that Anet is still fixing whats broke this late in the game.

Even before the update, no one could tell how someone else came about their titles (LDoA excepted.) Did that Survivor get LS by buying hammers or doing Kilroy's? Or did they actually play through the different chapters, face down bosses to cap elites and actually take risks? Did that Legendary Vanquisher do the work, or did they hire a vanquishing service? Did that IAH use a macro or timer? How many dungeons did that Legendary Master of the North hire runners for?

I think that one the main reason that they changed LdoA title (or at the least put semi repeatable - once a week) quests in was to free up the servers they had with the people that are just death levelling.
I myself think all these changes are good and will encourage newer players to show them these things are obtainable in the "short" time that we have left to wait for Guild Wars II. I think on average a normal casual player should be able to reach GWAMM and therefore most of 30/30 in about 3-6 months depending on level of play.
How is this not a good change???!??!

How many people that didn't grind this stuff the old way really care what said people accomplished? Well that's exactly how many will use these commands: zero.

My suggestion was merely to help them get some sort of recognition for the time they put forth.

A lot of people feel this way and they should not have their shiny new LDoA contamninated by the suspicion that they obtained it the old school way. The best way to achieve this is simply to change the title slightly. How about 'New Improved LDoA'?

And if it was so great in the first place it makes you wonder why the title didn't exist from day 1!

Isn’t that what the whole GW economy is based on? Remind me again why rare skins are so expensive? |

The alternative was simply removing the title from the game. Now that would piss some people!
The game is constantly changing and evolving - some times for the better, others for the worse and occasionally just different.

have the people who had LDoA the old way have it changed to:
"I suck so much that charr would kill me for hours straight all night long, and this for several months, without caring for the ludicrous elecric bill, of Ascalon"
of course it would be forced on display because people would be so damn proud of it...
same with "I turned in all my kath hammers or mashed "8" before the embark update"
I mean... those were such awesome achievements, people just deserve the credit...

I got LS and Drunkard the good old fashioned way and I am certain nobody playing cares. It is all irrelevant. The titles changed so GW players had something to return for. Play the game if you are enjoying it. If not, delete it off your hard drive and do something else. I have yet to have a single other players actions affect my PVE play to any importance. It is a game, not a military uniform.

I get teh whole epeen concept for exceptionally rare skins etc but i just dont understand the amount of whining people are doing because they think some titles got easier and its not fair on them/veterans/oldskoolers.

I don't have anything against the idea itself, but people would never use this command (or even hear about it).

The only thing I would do is applying a time stamp to titles.
More that just getting it, being the first one that got it has more merit.
But since it's too late to add such timestamp in GW1, it should be left for GW2.

and this comes from someone who already did the alc title the old fashioned way (as in, I clicked every one myself, didn't use a program, didn't do the zone trick, no timer)
they changed the title to fix something they didn't like, so they are certainly not going to go back on that
also, I very much doubt the game has a way of distinguishing who got their alc and ldoa title which way

why not just "/hero" to look at thier Hero Tab with Age+Death on it. add a button for this instead imo. put skills on that too, sick of noobs QQing cause they asked to ping.

LOL.
As an IAH (the old way) why would I care how I got it? I just did it for GWAMM not because it shows how good/bad/committed I am. Also, why the hell would anyone else care how I got it enough for them too look it up?
It's not like i'm gonna get into a heated argument about what method I used to drink pixellated beer which can only be solved by a /drunk...
This is even more daft than the idea of splitting the titles.

no way.
would you then add /hammers and /kilroy as well to check survivors?
/keyspurchased to check Z titles?
/leached to check EotN rank?
Honestly now.. I am the only one that should care about how I did anything.

you cant compare botting to a title change so don't even go there
epeen =/= significant in game advantage
epeen =/= significant in game advantage

Hyperbole and generally inaccurate comparisons don't sway an argument in your favor.
