Ok ive been giving this a thought...since in the chapter two we can choose between two factions, and the plyers will battle againt each other (correct me if im wrong) there could be a HUGE supermacy of one faction...for example, if most players (or the strongest ones) all join Luxon, Kurzick will be weak, and nobody will join them..How do you recon that Anet will keep the balance between the factions?

Nice 2pac avatar. I Think the players will do balance them self. It is more fun to figth on weak side, to see if you can turn it around. So do I think.

you post twice lol.

thats a really good question, I really don't know how Anet will go about balancing out the factions, but I hope Gaile Grey sees this thread, maybe she could answer for you.

anyway, Qual is right in the sense gameplay seems cooler if your on the weaker side. They might approach it like Alliance and Horde in WoW, though I don't know how Blizzard manged to keep it equalized.

all the good people/guilds will join the weakest side just to prove that they can own anyone.

In Star Wars Galaxies there was the obvious choice between Rebel and Imperial. The players were able to balance it out themselves and there were no real balance issues.

yes, you have a point .I would join the weak side...but i dont think everyne will...and i think Anet cant just "presume" what the players will do...what if most players dont? Then there would be a huge gameplay flaw...

the only downside to this is that there will be less people in the mission areas for one faction

it isn't like in swg where everyone can go at the same time, gw limits it to 8

I'm sure there will be a balancing program put in place. ANet has the ability to read about what other companies have done in the past regarding this - they aren't stupid.

Even if there wasn't a balancing system, only people who didn't know how to play/fight would jump to the bigger side. Players seeking a challenge would drift to the losing one.

Also, you have to figure in that it probably wouln't be teams of 50 people running in at one teritory. It might be just teams of 8 or a slight few more than that (though more than 8 is doubtful to my knowledge).

dont forget the THIRD FACTION........

everybody who chooses NOT to join either of the 2 warring factions.

they might have some way to be a swing or moderating influence depending on how Anet does it

I'm not sure how the faction thing will work with the guild system. I mean it doesn't make much sense for people in the same Guild to be in rival factions. It could be made that the Guild leader chooses the Guild's faction.

I'm thinking faction might be like the continental setup for HoH/favor. If that's the case, and if the ruling faction will have an in game advantage, I'll flock to the strongest faction and switch sides as often as allowed.

as others said, all the noobie players will join the weak suide just so they can look good. I tend to join whatever side is worse or more often has less players. This started way back when i play Medal of Honor:AA when sides would be way offbalance

i think i would prolly join the weaker side as well as it owuld be fun to try to turn things around. but a third faction that is not on either side would be great. almost like a bounty hunter. u can fite for either side if need be but you hold no alliance to either.

why not? In Planescape you could have party members be in different factions...or in Robert Jordan's books with the Aeil(sp?) there was clan and house(something like that) there are a bunch of examples I could bring up where it would be sensible.
