Game Hiccuping and Jittering
BattleStronk
Hey, I took a long break from Guild Wars, and i've decided to come back and play. My usual fps is 350-650. and my ping is 100-150 ms. However the game just hiccups and jitters. Any suggestions?

You must have a pretty hardcore system to be getting 350-600 Frames in GW. That aside, try reinstalling your video drivers, cleaning the system of dust buildup and make sure your temperatures aren't going to high. If you are running crossfire/SLI, disable it, because Guild Wars does not like ether of them.

Are your in-game video settings optimized? Perhaps they're set too high. Something happened from when you last played - either upgrading your os or your drivers are incompatible. That or maybe you have too many processes running - anti-virus scans can really lag your pc.

Check to see if you have vsync on. Then try to get a higher resolution. Maybe download and run GameBooster.

I play on low graphics; I don't have any anti virus scans running.

why on earth would you play with low graphics? Your computer can obviously handle max - and you are not going to get more than 60 fps with V-sync on (standard lcd monitor refresh rate). The game feeling "jittery" is likely due to your ping, your isp, the game servers, or some combination of the three.

what's your ping? and by jittery is it your character rubber banding or does everything on the screen jerk around when you move?

I know that if you alt-tab out and into Gw it has an effect where it seems you are teleporting couple feet at a time while walking. If thats the case I usually just minimize and maximize again and that usually fixes it until I alt-tab again.

One thing I might add is whenever i load into an area, guildwars minimizes then reopens quickly.

Do you have an ATI/AMD video card? There was an issue with their drivers that caused that for some people awhile back, I think it was fixed in the last several editions of Catalyst Control Center though. Actually, full system specs would be helpful.
