I was just wondering if when ur pet gets exp does it get the same amount that u would get? For instance if ur lvl 16 and u kill a lvl 11 and u get 16 exp
Also I was wondering how much exp it takes for pets to get to their next lvl?

Afaik, pets xp and level up is the same as it would be for a player. Refer to this page if you want to know the specifics:

The amount of XP between levels is exactly the same as for a player, so it follows the chart on the page that Marty linked.

Pets gain XP at the same rate that foes do, which is double the XP a player gets. This compensates for the fact that pets do not get any XP when you claim a quest reward, and the fact that no XP buffs apply to pets. (Pets do not get double XP in HM, do not get the XP bounty for a boss kill, are not affected by XP scrolls, do not get the XP boost from shrine bounties, etc.)

The pet XP is calculated based on the pet's level compared to the level of the foe, not based on your level. The pet XP is divided by the number of members in the party NOT including pets, just as it would be for a player. (The wiki is wrong where it claims that the pets in a party count as their own group and more pets means less XP per pet. It's the number of players/heroes/henchies in the party that matters, not the number of pets.)

So, imagine that you are level 20 and you take your level 15 pet outside Boreal station to kill snow wurms. The wurms are level 20 in NM.

Your XP per kill: 100 XP
Pet XP per kill: (100 + 4 + (16 * (20-15))) * 2 = 184 * 2 = 368 XP

Note that the XP gain is not divided, because you are solo. However, suppose you add Ogden to the party. In that case, XP for both you and your pet is divided by two. It does not matter if Ogden also has a pet.

In the example on the wiki, with a level 17 and a level 20 player killing a level 18 foe, imagine that one of you has a level 15 pet. The XP will be:

Level 17: (100 + 4 + (16 * (18-17))) / 2 = 60 XP
Level 20: (100 - 4 - (16 * (20-18))) / 2 = 32 XP
L 15 Pet: ((100 + 4 + (16 * (18-15))) / 2) * 2 = 152 XP

So, both players still gain XP as shown in the wiki example. The pet gets XP calculated as if it were a level 15 player in a party of two, which is then doubled. This applies to all pets in the party, so if both of you have level 15 pets, both pets will get 152 XP.
