Question re. Skipway against Mallyx

Is it possible to use the trick about going quickly through the door to Mallyx, skipping the cutscene and then being able to remain in the orginal room and fight Mallyx there w/o his supporting spawn with a 7-hero build?? I tried once and it didn't seem to work.

You need to enter the portal as soon as the last foe dies in the main room,then instantly press ESC

I've done it many times with 7 heroes. Just make sure you're at the gate before the last of the spawns dies.
