Sup guys, after a long break i decided to return and start playing guild wars. So, i would like some advice regarding which would be a good combo of professions for someone that only have factions and nightfall.

Good for what? (Farming? PvE? PvP? etc)

If you're simply doing normal mode PvE - whatever floats your boat will do just fine.

Or, a Rit/any with the eventual goal of being an SoS spirit spammer. (It doesn't matter what the secondary is because you would be using only Rit spells anyway.)

Im interested in PvE/PvP and i have a Rit/Mo, so i was considering a R or E as a primary

Keep in mind, once you get about a third or a quarter way through the game, you can change your secondary profession to something else at any point in time.

So what you pick for your secondary doesn't have much long term consequences. Pick whatever primary profession you want.
Ranger is more about degen and interupts, Eles are more about AoE, Knockdown, and conditions like blind. I enjoy them both.

I suppose the main consideration is which classes have prophecies-only or EotN skills that are "important" that you won't be able to get. You'd probably avoid that issue using some of the Factions/Nightfall only professions as your primaries.

But I don't really think that's really a major since there are more than enough decent elites in both campaigns and that are core and Factions actually had a good number of duplicated Prophecies skills. And you've got Factions which is a campaign with pretty strong skills.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_...phecies_skills <- Shows you what you can't get, which might be helpful if you've got a particular preference from seeing how other builds are or what people suggest.
