Dhuum with heroes

Decided not to post this in the hero section, as this is not directly related to heroes and their skill bars.

Ok, so I managed to make a 7 hero build with my warrior that can reach Dhuum in UW in a reasonable time. (Without cons)

However, once I get to Dhuum, how exactly should I play it? Neither one of the wiki's, nor any thread on guru (Unless one of those million page threads which I refuse to read through) explains how one exactly beats Dhuum, let alone with heroes.

All the information I found is rather ambigious, some read you only need to "survive" untill Dhuum's rest is complete, other reads you have to have his health down to 20% BEFORE Dhuum's Rest is complete or it resets, and other read even other things. I obviously know you need to kill the minions, and not use encase skeletal (Which is no problem since I don't die anyways)

So please read this carefully before replying to my post:

Assume I just enter Dhuum's Hall with my 7 heroes. What do I do, and how do I do it?

That's all I need an anwser to, I don't need: "Dhuum is very dangerous, so watch out", as that's merely stating the obvious, as is "Kill minions first". Where do I stand? Where do I flag my heroes? Do I need PI? Do I even need to damage dhuum?

Thanks!

Your lose condition is:
1. Your party wiped, or
2. All the Reapers were killed

Your win condition is:
1. Rest bar filled, and
2. Dhuum under 20% hp

Now, the bare minimum for victory is actually pretty low. Given time, the reapers will slowly fill up the rest bar, and then slowly damage Dhuum down. And only the skeletons directly attack the reapers (and Dhuum's AoE is not enough to kill them). So, you can do nothing but not die and pick off skeletons promptly and eventually win.

If you want to speed this up, damage Dhuum down to 20% while the reapers fill the rest bar. Direct damage works fine. PI is suggested here by the same people who suggest it everywhere because they don't know how to prot or disrupt (or deal direct damage effectively).

If you want to speed it up more, you sacrifice some team members (let them die and enter ghost form) to help the reapers fill the rest bar faster while you do the damage and pick off the skeletons. It can be hard to have people selectively die w/ a hero healer though, so maybe skip this.

Seems you already understand the problems with encase, but for anyone else who's reading: Skeletons heal while encased and then eventually break free. The more you encase, the bigger pile of (fully healed) skeletons you're going to have when they break out. Encase is pretty much reserved for "there's a skeleton on the reaper and the reaper has one hit to live" situation.

[edit:]
I guess one other note is in order: The DP touch skill is a pain, and a worse pain for hero teams. You can either bring party DP removal cons, or deal with the fact that he's going to touch out your melee (that means you as a warrior) and maybe some other people. Once you get two ghosts, the DP removal skill is usually enough to counteract the touches. The problem is that the party members who get ghosted are probably not those you'd choose.

well, you get a dhuum's rest bar, much like ab capture points, wich need to be filled out before you rape dhuum, all reapers will ocasionally add a few points to that bar, it can take a while b4 it is full.

while the bar is been filled, you need to try survive dhuum's attacks and his minions, dhuum will often summon some skeleton minions... unlike skeletons you encounter throughout UW, minins dhuum summon now does not have "defence-ignoring" attacks, they are just a noyance, but can be trouble if you let him summon too much minions.

dhuum will also use his dhuum's judgement, wich deals a lot of dmg separated in diferrent waves, if you have PI, using it right after he casts dhuum rest can drop around 1/5 of his health, but if you kill him b4 dhuum's rest bar is full, you'll be kicked out of UW, so watch out.

dhuum is just a lame melee attacker, he usually hides himself and appears somewhere else close, nothing to worry about, his touch skill however, adds +5% DP, once anyone gets +60% DP and is struck by that touch skill again, he will die.

if anyone happens to die, they will be teletransported in a spirit form to the vale area, next to a npc wich can teleport you back to dhuum's room.. heroes don't/can't speak with the npc, so they will be away forever of they die

if you die while in spirit form, you can no longer be rezzed while dhuum is alive, so your body will just lie on the floor forever.

once dhuum's rest is full, and you kill him, UW chest will appear and you can then rez anyone who died and get your reward.

good luck, hope this helps

Do the heroes know to go back to the hall? or they just respawn at the hall as ghost?

In simple terms:

I flaged all my heroes on the podium thingy near the back of the room when I did it.

Earthbind spirit and lots of KD virtually nullifies all of dhuums damage.

If you're bringing 3 necros, 2 rits and 2 mes, you should be fine to leave them to get Dhuums health below 20% and kill skeles without lifting a finger as long as you brought a couple of skills for this purpose:

1. Bring the hex removal skill in protection prayers that I can't remember the name of, but main reason is it's fast activation time (1/4 or 1/2 sec). Costs 10e so turn if off until dhuum room unless it's on a necro hero. Takes care of dhuums nasty hex no problem even if it's put on the person with the skill.

2. 2 copies of PwK or other party wide heals to clear up the damage from Dhuums AoE skill.

Slow way: after his health is down, just wait for the rest bar to fill.

Fast way: flag hero or two next to dhuum and give a vamp weapon and if you pre-planned it; a large sacrifice skill, to get the hero killed.
Hero will come back as a ghost, diable the encase skill defo, and others if you want him to spam the rest skill. The ebon ward of spell recharge is good on the human bar for this reason. If rest is full before health is down, re-enable the damage skill on the ghost bar.

Bring some rez scrolls incase of accidents and party DP removal too for heroes DP and you'll be fine.

Never tried dying myself when with heroes, wouldn't want to risk it after all the time taken to get there

Anyone come back as the sole ghost and can verify it's ok to do it?

I brought some heroes last time I fought Dhuum and I had the same questions running through my mind. I think it's pretty simple really... disable Encase Skeleton and Dhuum's Rest and just let them spam healing, damage, and DP removal as they will. Dhuum's Rest disables the other skills for a time so I decided to just leave it disabled and let the reapers do that. The hero's quick reaction time with healing is probably more helpful, and they spam the damage and DP removal skills too.

This will still be tricky (very?) because normal resurrection skills don't work and heroes can't use scrolls to bring you back. Good luck!

note: had some guildies with me, it wasn't a 7-hero run.

The only hard thing about the fight is the bullshit attack that adds DP. Unless you want to let heroes die and get the DP removal, you have to use the cons that remove DP or give morale boosts. Otherwise the fight is really easy, just stay alive until the Dhuum's rest is full.

Just finished UW to get my 50 HOM with 7 hero's. What I found surprising is the entire fight i just kept running away from Dhuum due to having his HP down to 20% when the rest bar hadn't even hit 50%. I spent the entire fight running around in circles, popping in and out to kill his minions. It was really a boring fight. I didn't have any of my heros die so I can't say with any certainty if they just come back as ghosts on the spot or not.
