Enemy Wall of Text Inbound.
Hello everyone, first post here. So Guild Wars 2 is coming out relatively soon, so I have a kind of dilemma. I played through this game inside and out but I did so on a character on my brothers account. Now I really don't want to miss out on Hall of Monument stuff in Guild Wars 2 (we're at level 30).
So assuming that the game may possibly come out say at the end of the year, do you think I could get back to 30 or relatively close if I re-buy all the expansions? I never really went for them, my brother did so I don't know the difficulty of getting the levels.
Also are there any expansions that are less beneficial than others to gaining levels (to save money, I'll be going to college soon so if theres a chance to save I'd like to take it.) So yeah, worth it? Opinions? Input? Thanks.

there are a bunch of threads around about what can be accomplished before gw2 comes out etc....and the HoM
here is one thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/c...t10454341.html
since you are new I will also inform you we do have a search function ...if you put in gw2 and "Hall of monuments" you will probably get quite a few threads with others having similar questions.
this thread might help as well:

edit:
if you want to buy the cheapest I would go for the trilogy (not from the online store--usually someplace like newegg or even walmart will have them on sale)...if you live over seas you can also get the complete edition which includes eye of the north as well as the 3 chapters

Don't think it should be too much of a problem, if you are wealthy you can "buy" quite a bit of the points.
Personally I never really made a big effort and I'm at 30 as well.
Fellowship - you can get 2 pretty easy.
Honor - linking account/finishing all campaigns/aligning with kurzik/luxon gives 8 points
That leaves Devotion, Resilience and Valor all of those can be bought.

I bought the game in Dec last year, started completely from scratch and played without anyone's help. I hit 30 points in 35 days, then I went on and hit 45 points in 75 days. Total time taken was about 150 hours and 300 hours respectively for both milestones.
Also most of the HoM is all about money. I spent about 700k buying about 18 points on my route to 30/50. I continued to buy another 13 points to reach 43/50 and spent about 3 million gold doing so.

Given that the trilogy is so cheap these days, I don't think you want to limit your possibilities by not having all campaigns. That lets you do more picking and choosing of the easiest options for getting 30 points in your HoM.

Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up buying all of them because of how cheap they've become. Thanks as well for linking the other two tips for HoM and I'll be sure to search first next time. Thanks all.
