Hey guys, I recently was watching TV and I saw a add about GW2. It made me think about all of the good memories of GuildWars. Ive played GuildWars since the beta all the way to up about a year ago when I stopped due to school, so recently I thought about coming back so I checked my email and noticed an email from ncsoft telling me how my account has been compromised. I had around 30 maxes titles and over 8000ecto worth of items. (Idk if that's alot anymore). But anyways, I just thought I should ask the community what there is to do in the game now? Is it worth coming back starting from scratch? Is it even fun anymore?
Thanks in advance.
Is it worth coming back?

There are three main reasons to come back.
1) Dervish update. The entire profession was overhauled and are now unique and definitely useful. If you like the idea of a Dervish then it's a great time to make one.
2) 7 hero update. The hero limit has been increased from 3 to 7, so you can make lots of fun hero groups. Look through the Heroes and AI forum for inspiration if you like.
3) The Hall of Monuments. If you're interested in GW2 (or even if you're not) then filling you HoM is a fun thing to work on. Look here: http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome
Also, yes, 8k ectos is still a lot of money, and certainly enough to buy everything you need for the HoM.
Fun is relative. I'm enjoying playing though the elite missions with my hero team.
You might be able to get your account back by contacting support. If you got hacked some of your stuff might be gone or you might have had some characters deleted, but it's still much much better than starting from scratch. Remember it doesn't cost you anything to come back for a bit and see if you still like it. If you don't, all you've lost is a few hours.
EDIT: There was also a big Mesmer update; I don't know if you were around for that or not.

NCSoft does not email you to say your account is compromised. Do not respond to that email. The only communication you might receive is to say that a password request was made. If you think your account has been stolen, contact [email protected] and put STOLEN ACCOUNT in the email. They can tell you the status of your account after you verify that you are the owner.

Max your Hall of Monuments and then forget about Guild Wars, come back for some updates and you won't be missing anything. PvE is a joke, Speed Clears + 7 Heros, PvP is a joke (GvG is somewhat dead on the American Side, HA is the same 40 people every day). Add to that the Code=015 problems that have been popping up in the last few days and I think Guild Wars is in it's last year of somewhat reasonable population.
Seems like I summed up the situation nicely. The only reason I'm posting here is because the Guild Wars servers booted me out and are now not allowing me to re-connect to my super serious Fort Aspenwood.

the so-called email you got was a phishing scam, ignore it
the game is still interesting, and there are still quite a few things to do
as posted above there have been many updates
now they even give more incentive to vanquish through zaishen vanquish quests

I'd come back, as Marty says, 3 reasons.
7 Hereos
HOM
Dervish update
I am enjoying it, and loving it.

Did you enjoy playing GW before?
If the answer to the above question is YES, then yes it is worth returning.
If the answer to the above question is NO, then no it is not worth returning.

Yes. That will be the only three reasons I will come back. Especially the 7 heroes and the dervish for me cos I really hate hugging walls and farming to max out my titles for HOM.

It's all personal preference. Don't listen to "the game is dead" or "the game is great". They are all personal opinions of those players.
The good thing about Guild Wars, is that you can log in whenever you feel like it. There is no monthly fee, so it won't cost you anything to come back and check it out. As well, read up on the main site and the wiki. It has a long list of all the new updates since you have been gone.
See if any of it interests you, and then check the game out again if you are interested enough.
