inepititude vs. Ether Renewel

Using Discord/Mes/Spiritway build, and myself as a Barrage Ranger.


I looked at the inepititude mesmer thinking there isn't any worthwhile skills besides the interrupt and the damage from inepititude.

Should I remove my Inepititude mesmer and add Ether Renewel Elementalist protter? or keep the current mes/discord/spiritway build?

For my discord protter, I was thinking about replacing with this:

The pros as I find,
-More damage buff for me
-Hex removal
-Unlimited energy for protting.

The cons
-Less interrupts
-Deep wound(Added accumulating pain to my inepititude hero.)


What is your suggestion?

Another question, Would Discord smite support work with minion skills?

Damage/interrupt is what the build does. The comparison is a bit impossible because the roles or so different. Inept primarly does AoE damage with a side of disruption. ER eles deal no damage, spam monk prots on players and push out some infuses. Basically unless you are dying, there's no reason to consider dropping damage.

BTW strength of honor does nothing for bows, melee only.

The Ineptitude mes is great for melee shutdown. Further, if you include Shrinking Armor, you get Cracked Armor as an end effect, which certainly helps boost your damage. Since you're running discord necros, having additional hexes and conditions around is a good way to ensure the criteria for discord is met.

That discord-smite build looks a little odd to me. Strength of Honor only buffs melee, and I can't imagine a hero putting a maintained enchant on minions. In fact, I don't know if they'll cast any of the smiting buffs on minions. The build does not help much with meeting the criteria for using discord, either.

If I use Psychic Instability and took out the Panic Hero, would it still be a good choice?

Plus I can't find any good variant for SoH. So scrap Smite Discord/Ether Renewal and keep the current team build?

You want to keep a panic massarupter in there. Honestly, with the new(ish) FC boost, Panic mesmers are arguably more defensive then even ST rits, because I've noticed that Panic will also interrupt regular attacks. PI, on the other hand, will only hit once every 8 seconds.

And that discord nec won't do you much good.
1) Judge's Insight: Useful against undead enemies and if you're a regular attacker (Warrior/ranger/sin), otherwise your hero will pretty much just waste 3s of cast time.
2) SoH: Useless unless you bring a warrior or sin, or both.
3) Foul feast on a non-infuse MM rather defeats the purpose, since anything that would bother a caster will bother this discord nec. If you're going to use this, take smite condition.

1. Take out the communing rit and replace it with an orders derv using Avatar of Dwayna. That will provide party heals while buffing your damage with Order of Pain. If you also have Dark Fury on the orders derv, that will provide you with plenty of adrenaline to go Ra/P and include "Go for the Eyes!" on your bar, since that increases the chance of a critical for both you and the minions.

2. Remove all resto skills from your SoS rit, except a rez. Replace with Splinter Weapon, Essence Strike, Spirit Burn, and Ancestor's Rage.
