Queston about installing Trilogy
Weeja
Hello everyone! New GW player here - tried the free trial and liked what I saw, so I bought the Trilogy through the in-game store last night. I was then able to continue playing Prophecies without downloading anything. Is that because I already had Prophecies from the free trial? What about the other 2 chapters - do I need to download them? I can't find anywhere to do that! I thought I read a thread saying to do it overnight because it takes 3-4 hours, but now I can't find the thread. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

I think that once you install the game, it installs all the chapters/campaigns. You have to add the chapter's/campaign's Access Key to your Account in order to create a character there or travel to it.
Edit: See the post below. It has good information.

You will download that content as you reach it. There is no additional actual download to get that content it streams when you go into the zones. There is a way to download the entire data file but that is approx 4GB and if you plan to do so, just do it before going to bed one night.
If you use the -image switch on your shortcut you can make it do this. Just be sure to remove it once you are complete as the game will not lauch with that shortcut addition.

Thank you very much! Looking forward to getting home from work so I can explore some more.

Here is a link to the command line page on the wiki. Just page down to the -image section. As stated, do it overnight or while you are away from home as it takes several hours.

When I bought NF (Nightfall) the install was a few seconds (disc), I think they mostly dload when you first enter the area you going to so you're not sitting waiting for a 4-5 gig download to finish before you get to play.
Unlike GfWL who seem to do everything they possibly can to postpone your gaming experience

BTW, since no one else seems to have thought to mention it...

Wow. I have been discussing this with NCsoft tech support the past couple of days. How's that for timing. What they are telling doesn't really make sense though.
They say if you want to do a different campaign, you can make a new character then select that campaign. Which leads me to this....then how can you have a single player do all of the chapters? I've been looking through these forums quite alot recently (since I"m a complete idiot when it comes to this game), and several posts mention starting in a later chapter then go back to the earlier ones...or just moved around chapters.
It was my understanding, these games are standalone..not expansions. I assumes we could go from chapter to chapter at will with our characters. Maybe not..eh?

The games are standalone but they are linked so you can travel to the other campaigns once you reach a certain point.

I was going to ask for a refund of my purchase until I found this. It doesn't work very well when you make a party and 30 minutes later you zone in because the America server is slower than dialup.
