Which is entirely why uninscr shields are so awesome. It either took you EFFORT to get it, or EFFORT to get the money to get it. Now it's just: find any inscr shield, buy the mods for 1-2k/ea and voilà you have your perf shield.. Not quite an accomplishment. At least every time I look at my shields I'm like "hmmm, nice stuff".. I don't give a toss about my torment weapons, I only have those for HoM anyway. Because they are that easy and no accomplishment is related to it.. The hunt, the thrill when you find your seller/get the drop, is which makes them worthwhile..

Also, no, people that have collections of certain skins, with certain mods, usually refuse to make them with inscr, because it would make the entire collection redundant, because you're not collecting them, you don't have a q9 Str -5/20 +30hp Emblazoned, you just have A q9 str emblazoned with those mods on them. Not the same thing.

Not everyone has time to grind this game for cash or rare items. Not everyone who has the time wants to spend their time playing the game in this fashion. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this group includes the vast majority of guild wars regulars. For you, this might be a rewarding way to play the game and obtain the skin you desire, but for myself and most people it's a drag.

Even the developers routinely make an effort to nerf farming and direct people's attention to the different styles of play the game offers. They realize that redundancy makes people bored and so they try to entice people to do different things. This ensures the player base doesn't completely bottom out before gw2's release. I don't think everyone farming and grinding pve for ectos really fits into that perspective--and that doesn't mean players who choose to do otherwise aren't putting in the "effort".

Most people just want the skin they desire with the right stats, nothing more or less. Personally I think that owning a particularly rare item doesn't mean a lot if the attributes of that item aren't as good as a common version.

That's why they had collectors and greens, for those who can't afford the golds. It worked perfectly.. They screwed their entire system in which they say: "all weapons are equal, and perfect weapons easily obtainable to all, you just have to pay for the looks". Well not entirely, but still quite a bit.

See above, Anet always made this game so that people could have perfect weapons, the only thing they would have to pay for is the looks. So your argument is invalid tbh.. If they made every skin with every mod available to everyone really easily, there would be nothing in this game left to get. Everything would be given on a dinnerplate, all the hunt etc would be taken out, which would result in a dull boring game that is all grind tbh..

Again, see above, your argument is invalid.. Collectors can give you any weapon with any stat all for r9. Greens also hang around, skin and rarity you pay for, which has always been the case.

They didn't screw the system, they introduced a new feature that allowed more folks to get the items they wanted with the stats they wanted. It's not about what players can afford, anyone can farm and grind if they put the time in. It's purely about accessibility. The issue with the shield skins is identical. This is an experienced player base, pve players don't want an item based on functionality anymore.. they want the nice skin too.

The reality is that these factions exclusive shield skins are in the game, nice looking and nigh impossible to find with perfect stats for pvers. It's just part of the paper-doll scheme of guild wars, let people dress up their chars as they want and make these skins more accessible. That's all I'm sayin.

You are completely getting me wrong. This game was based entirely around the spirit that any player should be able to get a perfect weapon and should not pay his ass off to get it. That's why greens and collector weapons are so easily accessible, all you need is farm a couple guys for their collectible drop, or buy them for like 500g/ea and you got any perf weapon in the game at your disposal. The entire idea was that all you had to pay for was aesthetics, so you're actually completely besides the point. If you want something with a nice skin, you SHOULD be paying for it, and deeply in case of some skins and some mods, which is entirely cool, because outside of +10 -2 shields, -2/-2 and some old, stuff like -3/10, every other possible mod combination is freely accessible, so if you really want the mods, you can get em, as you should, which is why making the remaining uninscr shields inscr would be a dick move and remove every rarity out of this game. They already took our Magma's, our Emblazoned's, our Kappa's, our GotH's and our celestials, don't make em screw the rest too.

They absolutely did "screw up" the system. They made a struggling economy go completely belly side up by introducing inscriptions. People who had worked hard for there money (be it farming, power-trading, or any other method) over many hours to get the weapons they wanted with stats that they found suitable to their likings had all been for nothing. I know a few people personally who had lost millions in gold-value of weapons due to the introduction of inscriptions. They made it so that having a 15^50 was no longer a luxury but essentially a given. Supply of these inscriptions and weapons with perfect mods on them had (and still does) exceed demand. When supply exceeds demand prices go down. Economics 101. So for an economy that was based on rarity, to remove the whole aspect of rareness, just completely defeats the purpose. They only continued to make this factor worse when they made inscriptions for rare skins that previously were rare of any stat to begin with. This made the property value of even having a certain skin decrease. If they wanted to introduce inscriptions at all they should have kept them skin exclusive. Left the old skins alone, and only introduced new skins only with inscriptions. Not take older skins such as sephis, serpent, dwarven, ect.. Which ever way you look at it they decreased property value of pretty much everything weapon wise. Bottom line, inscriptions were a mistake that they only continued to make worse.

I've never suggested that uninscribable items be converted or removed from the game. Besides, inscriptions are a feature that's mostly exclusive to Nightfall and EOTN. That's a selling point for those expansions. Conversely, having a unique mod combo on shields is somewhat of an exclusive feature to Prophecies and Factions. What I'm suggesting is that shield skins which are currently unavailable in inscribable form be made available, in inscribable form, somewhere. That could be the z-chest or the HoH chest--something along those lines.

Don't worry about your shields, kid. They'll remain and if my idea carries any weight .. other folks will buy expensive, albeit existing, inscribable versions of such shields so we can give ken and barbie strutting new gear to match the barbie corvette.

Why should everything being accessible to everyone? this is not GW....since release there were rare skins which got left rare drops and this makes the market roll....Not inscribable items from Nightfall and not even GWEN rares which are now overfarmed and will soon lose their value.

As u said and i agree with you Silicagel: those rare canthan shields are not rare themselves, it's rare u have them dropped with the stats u want. This is the real point.
Inscribable item just improve their value for being low req.

It's righteous that they left few items that don't have inscribable version...at least someone will put an effort for something instead of farming Dungeons with lameass builds and random PUGS....

You really still don't get my post. I know what you mean by making inscr versions of certain shield skins, I know you don't want them to make Factions and Proph drop inscr stuff. But they should not make those inscr versions of some shields, because of all my arguments said above. If you want the nice skin with the good mods, you're gonna have to pay for it, as you should, this has always been the case.

Just handing out nice skins to everyone is retarded and is completely against this game and the principles it's built on. The inscription era has brought so much retardation and ignorance that it's getting on my nerves from time to time. No more stuff should be made inscribable, if you want a nice echovald with nice skin, you're gonna pay for it, if you don't have the money, you'll have to use an inscr or a collector shield, which is entirely cool, because that's how Anet designed this game.

Same old "some people don't have time" argument. That line is about as old and boring and redundant as inscription items. If that was true, there wouldn't be chaos gloves everywhere, you would not see FoW armor on most everyone, and tons of other examples. It does not take that much time or effort to make money in GW. Most of those people are lazy or just suck at a game that has also been made so easy that it is pathetic as well. If you want quick money learn how to SC or something.

And you are only good at making assumptions it seems superraptors. You are making up "facts" and assuming things which are not true and you obviously didn't even get the point of what I was saying. I am sick of everyone having to have inscription versions of everything. Agree with what Bright is saying, there should be some things left that take effort. That has nothing at all to do with powertrading. I was not even annoyed, but someone making assumptions and saying that is why I don't want inscriptions is annoying.


If the game is "dying" then why do you even care if everything is made into crap inscription version?
