sos solo problems
Rival Night
Hello there, decided it was time to make myself a rit to test out some solo stuff, problem is i seem to be quite bad at it which i understand mabye it takes alot of practice but for example when i set my spirits up on the stairs in uw, if 3 or more attxe get on them they just get owned, and before i can get new sprits up the attxe run over and gib me.
im using:
Sos
Bloodsong
Pain
Shadowsong
Agony
Armor of Unfeeling
Painfull bond
max armor with 5 radiants, 3 attunes, 1 major spawning on gloves and 1 sup channeling on head and the headpiece has + 1 channeling on it.
That gives me 69 energy with +3 regen and 405 HP (not sure on what weapon to use btw)
i start by setting up 1-5 then i put painfull bond on the target after i use a longbow to pull then i use the armor but like i said 2 or more foes on them and they are dead and they go straight for me and i insta die.
mabye im doing something wrong and i am open to constructive critism so please do tell me how i can improve
thanks

2 aatxes should not be causing problems. Set your spirits up together so they form a wall (with Shadowsong at the back so it doesn't get targeted), pull a mob, and you should be fine. Recast some spirits if you need to.

Well, it's most definitely not what I run... it's probably the complete opposite. If you can avoid getting hit it should be fine.

1) Spiritleech Aura is missing in the build, that's why the spirits are going down so fast.
(see: http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Team_-_Dual_Spirit_Spam)
Add Siphon Spirit to the build as well, to manage energy.
2) Your armour should be fitted w. 4 Shaman insig & survivor + at least Major vigor, better Superior. This way you can take 2 hits from tha Aatas if you have a 60HP staff / 60HP from shield + sword/axe/spear (weapn sets)

I would get rid of Agony and add in Vampirism, Also add in Spirit Siphon,
I usually run Survivor insignias, only because its great all round and i don't have set armor pieces.
Remember to keep Shadowsong up all the time, i usually run up to the mob cast painful bond, run back into spirits cast Armor of Unfeeling then stay out the way, recasting spirits when needed. no troubles at all

I would drop Agony for Vampirism. And do as Marty suggested: spread out your spirits, putting Vampirism in front and Shadowsong at the back.
Also, I would bring Spiritlich Aura as well. It can provide some moderate self-healing besides Vampirism.

thanks very much for the replies
i didnt take vampirism as i only have rank 1 in sunspear and i didnt think it would be very usefull, i dont mind testing things out but its 1k a shot in there and its starting to get expensive hehe

Shadowsong
Armor of Unfeeling
Spirit Siphon
+15AL with 3 spirits insignia. Minor runes for channeling, resto, spawning, and communing. Superior Vigor.
+5AL +5e spear. Shield with +health.

Vampirism is definitely a better choice. Not only does it last longer, when you recast, the old spirit will stay around a while and add in damages as well. Also painful bond is very helpful in adding extra damage. I actually have a Destruction added but it may not be what is good for you for solo. It stays alive for 30seconds and then dies, dealing damages worth that 30seconds to all the foes around.
Venganza
Use vampirism (best is sunspear rank is high as possible) and for God sake make sure you invest as many points in spawning as possible, which directly affects vitality of spirits.
I run SoS, blood, vamp, shadow, armor, pb, summon and a self-heal (hb is good enough to counter-act migraine etc, provided you don't get hit multiple times)
Spiritleech and such is not needed, provided you remember not to spam spirits like a lunatic.
You should watch you minion tab, and make sure you are not re-casting them too early. This is the way to manage energy without recourse to any energy skills per se.
Make sure Shadowsong is up, Aataxes have a nasty habit of randomly going to you if they are not blinded
Three Aataxes will take down spirits quite fast, nothing unusual in that, but as long as you recast (moving back) at the correct times, they are no problem (even with a darkeness of two in the mix).
I solo UW (usually just clearing plains), but can do it all with care + 5 quests.
If you want to be "safe" take some heroes and flag them way off the map as you go. Then they can res you if you die, but since they are off-map, your drops will be as if you were truly solo.

Take spiritleech aura, and when setting up spirits make them into a diagonal wall, doing this allows you to keep an eye on what spirits and about to die, thus letting you recast that spirit in good time of recharge and without spamming and replacing others, +20e Staff Helps too.
I'f your still not confident, send me a msg I'll be happy to show you.

One of the most helpful hints: Press Y to open up the minion list. This lets you see damage to each spirit instead of having to squint on the little green bars. Helps with knowing which need to be replaced.
The best advice is to test the build in areas without the entrance cost to get used to the idea behind the build. Learn to build a wall with the spirits, learn to spread them out when facing AoE enemies and get used to the "fall back" placing when they start to drop.

Wait a few (15) seconds after your last spirit (Shadowsong) is placed before pulling so that when you lose spirits they can be replaced immediately.

12+1+3 channeling
9+1 communing
9+1 spawning
Bloodsong
Pain
Vampirism
Signet Of Spirits
Shadowsong
Painful Bond
Armor Of Unfeeling
Spiritleech Aura
cast skills in order, with the spirits with the longest lifespan being first, make a wall. Shadow song goes in the back. Pull with A longbow, Hex with Painful Bond, use Armor of Unfeeling ASAP followed by spiritleech Aura. Press Y watch which spirits you need to recast, stay away from shit. and win.

thanks for all the help
much appreciated
can this be done as a 330 rit?
or is it harder?

It might look funny but it works really good for me.......
the armour doesnt matter except you need a sup spawning besides the sup channelling on your head piece. But I run all channelling spirits and vampirism.
Boon of Creation- enrgy management and heals your whole bar by casting sos if they for some reason get through your spirits
Sos
Bloodsong
Agony
Destruction
Vampirism
Painful Bond
Summon Spirits
Like it was stated in earlier posts....make sure you line out your spirits and stay behind them. I found that they like Agony and usually take it out first. But as soon as Destruction recharges recast it and watch the Aataxes health drop
I clear the chamber and the smites no problem. The trick is to do it enough to know how many you can pull and when to pull so you dont over agro. And know how far you need to go to break agro if you do get too many.
Hope this helps

Not sure about 330 Rt...would have to deal with the interupts from the grasps which was a pain for a 55 necro.

Personally I use this for just the chamber area (smites take too long imo) http://www.gwpvx.com/Special:PvXDeco...ame=&Go=Submit, set spirits, use armor of unfeeling, lure with painful bond and hide behind the spirits
Remember that conditions and hexes are counter productive vs smites, if you do want to venture to the smites/plains then I found this worked reasonably well http://www.gwpvx.com/Special:PvXDeco...ame=&Go=Submit.
With both builds i use a +1 channel/+30 staff and shaman insignia on all armor peices

Even at level 1 it's not bad.

Marty I noticed you dont run Summon Spirits, there a reason why?
Marty Silverblade
Is there a reason why I should be running it? I seriously don't understand why people seem to staple it to spirit spam bars. In normal PvE situations where you're likely to face AoE it can be useful to move them out but this doesn't really apply in this situation.
Snorph
Ahhh I see, I am trying it out, and so far it's working very well.

*330 rit requires some practise, i'd recommend to first try it out somewhere a bit easier (not too many foes at the same time)
*for Spirit spammer. for you sake, if not experienced, find someone to do dual UW sprit spam (1 SOGM and 1SoS)
*soloing smites is imo not worth as it takes too long| if you decide to farm them, take spiritleech aura. dual smites is relatively easy
*for planes bring heroes (random heroes will work just fine) DON'T bring painfull bond but instead pack your build with spirits. e.g. sos.bloodsong.vampirism.anguish.disenchantment etc. (no destruction as spectres are casters)
*clear the chamber i would recommend regular sos with painful bond with shadowsong and always try to keep your shadowsong safe, even consider bringing "black powder mine"for aatxes

Black powder mine is trash, Shadow song is much better esp. with spirit leech aura, if u need to recast just recast.

BPM is safer for bigger agros, nearly permanent area blind if used well but only good for the chamber. It works best duo with a Keystone nuker and big pulls ^ ^
Golgotha
Vanquishing Plains of Jarin once alone will get you rank 6. Incredibly easy as a Spirit Spammer, just need to know the Mandragor pops.

Here is my UW solo video, luckily it starts with 3 aatxes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHs5f_nsyTk Sorry the quality is bad.
Skills:
Bloodsong
Vampirism
Pain
SoS
Shadowsong (highly effective for aatxes, cast it behind other spirits)
Armor of Unfeeling
Summon Spirits (without this I will never go any solo SoS farm)
Painful Bond
Channeling Magic: 16
Spawning Power: 12 (high spawning power, good for spirit healths)
Communing: 12
Life: 385
Item: Staff of the Forgotten (good for energy)
Insignias: All Survivor
Runes:
- Channeling Magic +3
- Communing +3
- Spawning Power +3
- Life +50
- Life +10
Luring, timing and retreating are all important, but once you get used to it, it's pretty easy. Sometimes I get 4 ectos in 30 minutes but after a lot of runs, it got boring.
I have a slightly different build for FOW as well. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHSMqWk9Xlo
