Can't Connect to GWW, GW.com, GW2.com, or GW2W
Karate Jesus
For some reason, I haven't been able to connect to the official wiki, GuildWars.com, GuildWars2.com, or guildwars2wiki.
I've seen some people mention in a few threads that it's a common problem, but I'm able to play the game but still not get on Anet hosted websites.
Any fix to this, besides proxying?

Report it... it's all part of the same pathing issue, and the more information they have, the better able they are to figure out which peer is blocking people.
Also, if you're in anything but an American district (or routing to servers - outposts - hosted on unaffected destination IPs), you would still be able to connect to the game. You can change the destination IPs in-game by changing servers (American, Korean, European, International, etc.) but you can't change the destination IPs of static websites.

Yeah, some people have been having the issues for close to a month. I found out I had it about a week ago and reported it.
I still haven't heard anything back besides the automated response.
I was hoping someone knew a workaround besides proxying.

It's all one interconnected problem - and there are a lot of players who won't bother filing a ticket about their own issue assuming someone else has already done so, "so why should I (they) bother?"
The fact that you're also in Texas is something I'd think they'd want to look at more closely, and see what your traceroute looks like... given that most of the users previously having issues were attempting to access the servers in Austin but were coming from other places in the US and internationally (trying to connect to American districts).
Btw - congrats on the new job! Just read in another thread you're now working in the industry... I know you mentioned in our previous conversations that you were hoping to break in. Welcome!

As far as the rest of that, I've assumed it was all interconnected which is why I reported it. I was kind of hoping someone would have figured out a workaround, but I'll live without it. I can proxy to get to the sites.
TheGizzy
Yeah, unfortunately I've been stuck using a proxy all week, which has been exceedingly annoying.
I called them Monday & Wednesday, just for updates... late Wednesday they sent out a message asking if people could connect (to the game) by changing their own IP. I've had to switch my MAC address three times in the last 24 hours to stay connected - I swear, my ISP has eternal leases LOL ... yesterday it would block again after a few hours and, perhaps just coincidentally, only after loading TexMod. So I haven't reloaded TexMod and haven't had to change MAC addresses since *knock on wood*
I'm going to call them again before they close if I don't get any sort of update... I'd rather not go into the weekend without hearing anything.
Really happy for you about the job... that's just fantastic!

I just called and talked with Timothy at support. They still don't know what's causing the issue and are still working on it. He's going to try and get another update before the end of business today, but I don't really expect it with as late in the day as it is.
I had emailed the other night when they instituted the GH bandaid, because doing so cut many of us who WERE able to log on to the Euro districts off from the login server. Apparently I wasn't really clear in explaining that in my email (looking at what I wrote, I WAS unclear), but Timothy noted it today and is passing it on. Sometimes it's just a lot easier to convey things by voice.
Anyway, just wanted to report back on my call. I think they're as baffled by this as we are. I also think they're getting stonewalled by one of the peers.
We talked about the possibilities of TexMod relating to the issue. I'd noted in my email that I thought it likely NOT to be related, especially since TexMod is supposed to be local but I thought it worth mentioning that I was using it and what I'd experienced. Timothy agreed and commented that they wouldn't allow TexMod to be used if it were changing the packets... so in theory, no peer would even realize a user was running TexMod. Since I do have multiple MAC addresses to get new IPs with if I need them, I'm going to try playing with it loaded again.

Try searching for "Google free DNS" and try that.
At any rate, it sounds like a DNS error which would be a problem with your ISP, not ANet.

Yep, it's been awful trying to connect to the website again all of yesterday and today. :/
And for the record, I've been having this for a good 3 weeks now.

Even a few still can't access the game.
EDIT: Oh, and obviously proxying IPs and changing my DNS will give me access, but this is a pretty widespread problem for people using various routes. It's not like it's just me.

Has anet actually said anything about these issues, its really getting annoying that multiple guildies not even able to log on.

This (tentatively) seems to have also fixed the general connectivity issue with certain users and American districts, along with restoring access to the official websites.
Many of us were forced to move to Euro districts, from American, in order to access the game at all... those users may find that they are now unable to access certain Euro districts (error codes 40 & 04). If you can get one of your characters on (check your toons individually if you're having trouble) and moved back to American districts, it moves your entire account to American districts, and you should then be able to connect.
If all of your toons are sitting in Embark Beach or Kamadan on the Euro servers, you may have trouble getting any of them on. I was only able to connect one of my characters, who was on Shing Jea Island. So a work around if you're stumped may be to create a new Factions character and see if that one is able to connect. No guarantees, just trying to offer a potential work-around.

It hasn't solved anything.
Currently I can't access the official wiki, when trying to use a proxy (anonymouse.org) it's super slow and once in a while it will time-out.

Just wanted to chime in that I'm having the same problem connecting to GW this morning (I haven't tested GW Wiki, GW.com or GW2.com yet). From what Karate Jesus and others are saying, it sounds a LOT like, if not completely identical to, the same problem I had in early December and at the end of January. Pathing issues did seem to be involved both times - in fact, one of the key points of trouble appeared to be a Level 2 relay server in Dallas that wasn't passing on information (see Liselle Morrow's post with the traceroute). I've been getting suspiciously regular 007's every day around the same time for at least a week now, then early this morning (about 3 am - I was up at the time, so happened to be awake to notice it) the game went 007 again and I couldn't re-connect to where my character currently was, in Embark Beach. When I shut down the game and tried to log back on, I had 058 issues on my first attempts to log on, then when I was able to log on to ANet's logon server, I couldn't get through to any of the game servers. As I say, this is very, VERY much like problems I've had at least twice previously.

To add to the above connection problems I am having, can not access the Arenanet Blog.
joea64
Update: I've filed a ticket with NCSoft. They asked me the same routine technical questions they have before, and I referred them to my earlier tickets which have all the technical information (which hasn't changed since last time). I will need to run Game Advisor again, though. Also, I don;'t seem to have any trouble accessing GW.com or NCSoft.com, or the ArenaNet blog; it's just the game itself. I'm going to try logging in again in now to see if things have maybe changed.
Flame
I had an issue similar to this before, and it is happening again now. Previously, and most likely this time, it is due to Comcast being an absolutely awful ISP.
joea64
Perhaps. Then again, when I ran GameAdvisor last night, I found that there was a significant packet loss (100%, in fact) at a poiint in the traceroute and ping path just before the data was supposed to get to/from the ANet servers. This is very like what happened the two previous incidents of this problem. Also, the first time this happened in late December, ANet told me that the problem was on both ANet's and Comcast's ends of the connection.

When I see your name, I know you're having the same problem connecting to gw as I am. Same song and dance on my end as last time when we went through this. Submitted my ticket to anet and will be following up with comcast tomorrow. Did it get resolved on your end? I'm still trying to log into the game. The gw web sites load for me - just can't log into the game /sigh

Same problem as most people posted above with GW Wiki. This has been going on for a week or two and the slow connection seems to be hit or miss, every once in a awhile it loads right away, but most of the time it either "times out" or loads after 5 minutes per page. (after 6 minutes it times out with my settings).
Any word as to how long this will continue? I have been forced to use the "unofficial" wikia page instead and it is less informative by comparison. Thank you in advance

Was fine over the weekends--I could even play on the US servers. Now I can't. I know it's not on my end, since I can play other MMOs and do everything else online. I submitted a ticket, gave them their pingplotter save.
Back to the European servers for me, even though they're mostly dead when I play.
If you see a ranger named Ciaviel, say hi.

I have had trouble with access since middle of March. We have 3 desktops and 1 laptop in the house, and my desktop and laptop were not running GW clients. As well, all of the computers could only intermittently load up Anet and NCSoft websites, including the official wiki. I logged my ticket, responded to every request NCSoft technical support made in regards to running scans, etc. and then didn't hear another word from them since the end of March.
Today, a guildie told me to check for Pando Media Booster on my Add/Remove Programs. Sure enough, although I never willingly installed it, there it was. Apparently, it's a program that gets installed along with FTP ORPG like DDO and LOTRO, and turns your computer into a Peer to Peer client.
I promptly blocked the program from my firewall and uninstalled it, and JUST LIKE MAGIC my desktop and laptop could run GW and all 4 computers could access the Wiki.
There was a German/French version recently released, and it's likely that it was taking up all my bandwidth. So for those of you having connection problems, here's a possible suspect for you.
Good Luck!

Uh, hello, I can't get to the wiki. Like the OP, I can't get to GW or GW2 official sites or their wikis. Very rarely it will suddenly load, but the rest it just times out. This has been ongoing for 2+ weeks now.
Doing repeated traceroutes to all four sites has led me to three culprits, the transition from Comcast to ATT to XO.

Couple of suggestions - you can navigate to the Wiki via a proxy like anonymouse.org... just select your language and then paste the URL you're trying to access into the field.
Also, you can email [email protected] to create a support ticket. Your email will go through even if you can't access any of their sites. Everyone connected with this issue should be filing a ticket.
And finally - did you all know that NCSoft support has Twitter? http://twitter.com/#!/NCsoft_Support
They actually do monitor it and seem to respond to people through it... so do a bit of Twitter nagging.

Kityn
Also check and see if you have Pando Media Booster. That affects the connection to those sites.
Chrisworld
I've never had problems with lag or disconnects in Guild Wars, nor a problem with the wiki, until now. I've been without official wiki access for at LEAST 3 or more days.
It's isn't pando media booster, it isn't a firewall. It's not my browsers on my Gaming PC OR my Mac, even ipod. I can't get on the official wiki from anywhere.

Exact same problem on my end, Filed a report with NCsoft, got a "we have escalated the trouble call" reply, nothing yet. (Note: Comcast user, Tested with and without firewall, gave GW administrative access all the usual troubleshooting virus,spy/malware blah blah. Problem is definitely server side, and like you said, somewhere on the transfer in Dallas.) Also have been having the same problems with the official wiki, which would appear to be hosted off of the same group of servers perhaps?
garpu
Yeah I heard back from them today, as well, and they said they were looking into it and revising traffic based on it. We'll see. Still can't switch back to the US servers. European ones work fine.

There's a second similar thread here but this one looks more legit so I'll stick to it. Have had the same issue since the beginning of April. The ODD thing, to me, is that I CAN access:
http://www.arena.net
http://www.guildwars.com/products/guildwars/
and the other product websites in that series.
I can't, like, others, successfully load:
http://www.guildwars.com
http://wiki.guildwars.com
http://www.ncsoft.com
For the ones I can get to, PingPlotter still shows 100% packet loss in the trace.
edit: By miracle of the internet gods, I went from not having access to the websites 5 seconds before posting, to everything now loading post-post.
editx2: Internet gods are fickle. No more site access for me

I'm actually able to access the official website for guildwars, but still unable to access ncsoft.com and the official guild wars wiki. Now tell me, why does this seem fishy? I'm unable to access the wiki that is part of the official site (but able to access the official site) and unable to access NCSoft (who does not host the wiki, the official wiki is part of guildwars.com domain).
Interestingly enough, my ping to wiki.guildwars.com is 61ms and 0% packet loss, while I still cannot connect to it in any browser. Yes, the wiki is on a different IP address than the official site as well as NCSoft.
Ping results for NCSoft also show an average of 65ms with 0% packet loss, yet no html results within a browser.
What the hell is going on?
