Let's play in the Guild Wars
awry
So with the new update giving somewhat of a justification for time travel. How about we actually play during the events of the Guild Wars. I would like to see a new story arc about this after WoC
-Krytans vs Ascalons in a time travel plot!
-We'll be able to play in pre-searing!
-We'll be able to see more history and lore!
-Opportunities for bad back to the future jokes!
Edit: A thought, maybe Evennia fell into a time hole during her time in Ascalon and is now in the past? lol

this is likely only the beginning of anet's quest to destroy this game once and for all...

Playing in the Guild Wars by traveling back in time no.
Playing in the Guild Wars by reliving events like in the Bonus Mission Pack yes.

This is a paradox.
The commando existed because Sarah was killed before she could have Gwen.
Without Gwen, no one would marry that idiot Thackeray, Ebonhawke would not have been made, and Charr and humans never had the slightest common ground, since Gwen was not there to earn the respect of a warband.
And the war became so dire that each side developed much more effective weaponry.
And the result of that was the Commando came to be.
When you save Sarah, Gwen is born, she earns the respect of a small group of charr, and that leaves a seed that grows into a non-aggression treaty later on, and she marries Thackeray which leads to the creation of Ebonhawke. When the charr see they can't beat that fortress, the seed of respect turns into a peace treaty, and the commando and time travel never come to be.
And, oh.. well... it's just an April Fool's joke.
But I wouldn't be against mission packs to relive past events, although I'd prefer if you could go in parties of at least 5 people instead solo.

Although I do love the Commando,
I prefer using the scrying pool for the Guild Wars.

Seems like the Guild Wars were just 4 on 4 fights. So rather than adding some crazy time-travel escapades just, you know, bring Team Arenas back?

Gwen gets a very small amount of respect from Pyre Fierceshot, not so much from Pyre's warband.
After Ebonhawke is established, Gwen is sent thereby King Adelbern to keep supply lines open between the city and Ascalon city. Gwen fortifies the city into the war fortess we know of and defends the city from countless Charr sieges (meanign she kills a hell of a lot of Charr). This is why she is called the Goremonger and the Charr want to kill Sarah in the past. They want Gwen out of the picture so that Ebonhawke is never fortified and they can take it.
The peace treaty you talk about does not happen until 1 year before what will be present day GW2. Its very likely that the Charr send back the golem before that date.

Mithran's post is an excellent reason why no one (especially anet) should ever fool around with time-travel in their plots.
It's one of those things that goes beyond human comprehension.

I've always been curious what the world was like way back during the "Guild Wars" (maybe GvG was balanced back then!). I'd love to see some quests that take you back or put you in the shoes of someone during that time. Like pre-pre-searing xD

how is it beyond human comprehension? we know how time travel is possible we just can't do it. if i were moving in space at the speed of light flew my happy ass in circles for a few years i'd be distorting spacetime therefore aging far slower than earth and it's residents, on my return to earth you would all be old and i'd still be young. not perfect time travel but the only one that's plausible.

We were justified at using "time travel" to play out older events ever since the BMP was released. It requires us to put ourselves in the shoes of someone who was their though, rather than using our own character.
I hope you're not implying that you'd like our post-Searing characters to use the excuse of time travel to get back to pre-Searing, and this time in a less-than-temporary sense. That would be undesirable for obvious reasons.
