Summoning Stone's AI

I have a few questions about the summoning stone ally's AI system.

1. If I click and talk to the ally, will that ally stop following me? If I do it again, will it begin to follow me again? (Similar to Ghostly Hero)

2. Somewhat related to one. If in battle, and I retreat, will the ally follow me out of battle or will it fight till the death, regardless whether or not the entire party retreated?

3. What summoning stone ally, out of all the consumables (Norn, Asuran, Dwarf, Ebon, Kurzick and Luxon summoning stones) are the best?
My wage would be the Juggernaut (Kurzick Summoning Stone.)

Thanks for your time and help

1. no. They always follow the one who summoned them.
2. if it is actively engaged in combat, attacking and being attacked, a summon remains and don't follow you when you retreat out of battle. This way, I lost many summons, but was also saved often by a summon because it gave me time to retreat.
3. This is a point for discussion. In my opinion, the most desirable summons are the Gaki (very decent healer) and the Siege Turtle (almost undestroyable).

I summoned a Siege Turtle against a group of Pine Souls outside Boreal Station, Hard Mode. While they were pounding on Siege Turle my spirits was killing them off, and at end of the battle Siege Turtle was still alive.

I was farming Leather Claws (for the Traveler) yesterday, and I used a Mercantile stone to clean out my backpack. The Merchant was using a sword and continued to fight until I zoned.
Which says nothing about the OP's questions, but it's interesting that the Merchant can be used as a fighter too, although he's certainly not the best.

I have to say the summon stones can be very unpredictable. I got a Black Beast of Aaaaaaarrrrrrg! the other day and it slaughtered its way through most foes with ease.

I have yet to use the celestial stones and wonder if they are any better then the standard stones out there?

The survivability I don't think is to do with health/armour levels, but their survival skills. All summoning stones have several self-heals+tank skills, so as not to be a waste of a stone and die quickly.

If they aggro something, they will attack it till it's dead or you're dead. It won't follow you

Whats the best summoning? hmmmm. It depends on the task ahead. But if it comes to tanking I would say the merchant summon. I remember doing bloodstone fen in HM with a few guildies. One of them forgot to empty inventory so i pulled him out (forgetting bout the bonus and not killing certin enemy;s). So I tried to get rid of him. But he tanked solo all the way to the bonus area and beyond (ruining the bonus on the way).

So in bloodstone fen, don't bring him before you did the bonus. But if you need a good tank that deals good damage, bring him, and whenever your inventory is full he even helps you make some room

Siege Turtle is pretty good.
Pretty high damage via turtle siege, healing done via healing spring.

Ghastly's are pretty good too if you are willing to dish out 2k per stone.

I have never used the celestial stones before and was actually wondering if it is a one time summon like the rest.

Thank you so much Silmar Alech. This information was incredibly helpful.

The Black Beast is, well, a beast. I popped a mysterious stone once when we were screwing around in UW (five people and no healer, woooo...no, that was not a planned trip. Still a load of fun though!) and got the Black Beast, and it tanked/killed most of the chaos planes on its own. It was hilarious and awesome.

This. Siege Turtles and Gakis are Good Omens.

The ones that always surprise me are the wintersday summons, they seem to survive very well using their little snow forts and it is always funny to see one pop up.

I suspect, but am not certain, that summoned allies take a share of loot. I've been farming snow wurms in HM outside Boreal for XP and when I use a summoning stone, to speed things up, it seems like I get fewer drops. Not sure about this though.

Pr0ni summon is a pretty cool guy; he spams Jagged Strike and doesn't afraid of anything! Survives well on it's own for a sin, too.
