Brand new at this game. Only have played Oblivion and Titans Quest and loved them. Trying to find another game that my husband and I can play together. My questions is this. When my husband and I are playing together as a team how can I tell him from others on the screen? I am always loosing him and it is so frustrating. What are we doing wrong? Any help for this newbie player would be appreciated. My kids never played this game so they are no help.

Type his character name into the Party window and add him to your party. Now you are teamed up. Click his name in the party window and it'll be easier to find him in town. Hit space with his name selected and you'll go to him (or do you need to hit Trade? I forget).

You can also form a guild so that your names have a golden tag to make fellow guildies stand out in a crowd. Or both join the same established guild.

When in an explorable, hit and hold alt for the names of all friendly players to show up. Some works for the baddies by using ctrl.

Not also that in the upper right of your map the compass shows friendly people as green dots.

If you're a monk or a similar profession combination that makes you the "Healer" prepare to be looking at the Party Window and pressing on his name daily. It takes practice but between Alt and Control button use and manually clicking on the Party Window health bar's you'll eventually get it. If you're in a town just add him to your party as mentioned above.

If you meant you lose track of him during fights, click on his party bar to highlight him (both on compass and on screen), or use ALT. Other than that you'll just have to pay attention to the bodies and tell him by the armor.

Perhaps zooming in/out will help (mouse scroll), also try rotating perspective. You can also try painting his armor (or just his helmet/mask) a certain color (not sure how well this will go down with him though ). You can also customize size and position for everything on the screen and put it places you think will help you see them better (see the options; no worries you'll break stuff, you can reset it anytime you want).

I'll grant you that it can be confusing to keep track of someone (let alone everybody) during a fight (maybe there's an option to always show the green labels?)

You will get used to it eventually, it's like when you're learning to drive and they tell you you have to look at all the mirrors and in front of you at the same time and you tend to take it literally. But it's just a matter of training to follow several things at once "in the background".

I can tell you that you will have to learn to do this, if you want to get any good then any class you play has to be aware of the entire battlefield at any given time to some extent. Some more than others (monks in particular need to cover everything all the time). On the other hand, don't kill yourself trying, it comes naturally with practice.

Hi and welcome to Guild Wars,

You and your husband can always play to-gether if you both start in the same Campaign ..if not you can meet up later at certain cross over points where you can join up for e.g
You both have all the core professions in each campaign only diff is

Factions...can use a Ritulist or an Assasin.

Nighfall.......can use Dervish or a Paragon.

As you both wish to play to-gether but one of you wishes a Rit and other a Dervish you both can meet up later in game at a crossover point.

e.g Lions Arch....Kiang Center...Kamadden

So decide where you both wish to start if you want to quest to-gether right from the start then both must be in same campaign.

It does not take to long to reach a crossover area so dont let that deter you have a look here

These should allow you both to have a read and decide where you wish to start and that party size goes right up to 8 in most areas as you progress through the storyline.

Before you start make sure you both are in the same town *and* district (like America district 1 or Europe English district 1)...

Discuss a meeting point and go there (in town you can use the CTRL key to see player names but that may not work when you are too far from eachother... the ALT key is to see nearby npc's)

Finally team up... example: one of you can 'select' the other by clicking on the player. Then click the + in your party-window (the party-window is always visible when you are in a town). The other player must accept the party-invitation.

You two must be in the same town to do this... you cant team up when one of you is somewhere else.
You cant team up when the team is already full (with other players and/or heroes and/or henchmen). The max size of the team depends on where you meet (or need to be).

Once you are both in a party you can click the mouse on the radarmap, top right of screen, and you will see a red ping. Everyone in your party will see this ping and know where you are.

I hold in left control key to find peeps (it shows their names, but you need to be in the same district).

Some people when I'm trading want to add me to their party, not 100% sure how that works though, I'm guessing you must show up as a different colour on the compass map?

Ps. New Oblivion game coming out, can't remember the name but the screenies had me drooling. Only downside is that it's probably single player which is hard to go back to

Adding to the party helps traders meet and trade much easier:

* If you're in different districts, it puts you in the same one.

* Once you're in the same district, click on the other person's bar in the party window and hit "Trade" and you will automatically run to them.

This makes each other easier to find, so you don't have to ask "what D you in", have to decide on a district, pick a meeting place, scan a screen full of blue tags etc.

Another method is to use the party search window (P), click on the announcement you want and either double-click it or push "Join". This method is even simpler... unfortunately, it doesn't make the request in the other player's party window, it only says in chat "player JohnDoe has sent you a party invitation". So they have to notice that, open their party search window (P) and click "accept"... which not many people know how to do, and usually they miss the notice in the chat spam anyway.

Obviously, for all this to work you need an empty slot in your party. It's recommended to get rid of heroes when you're trading.
