Hello Guru, I have been having a problem when I close Guild Wars down. When I close it down, a few seconds after, a Windows Media Centre window pops up. I can't figure out how to stop it. I have been on the internet and looked on how to disable it but that does not work, is anybody else having this problem or has anybody got a fix? Thanks!

Remove the -mce from your Guild Wars shortcut, it will solve the problem.

As above, delete the "-mce" from the Target line of your GW shortcut.

The target line should look something like:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -mce
(Note that the -mce is outside the quotes.)

If you are using Vista or 7, you might not have a regular shortcut. In that case use Windows Explorer to find "gw.exe". Right-click on gw.exe and select Send To >> Desktop (Create shortcut). Check the Target line in the new shortcut for -mce.

Note 2 - this is the same place where you would put -image.

Beat me to it. I found this really annoying as well when I went to Windows 7 machines.

This problem only seems to arise with some installations. I've gone from XP to Vista to 7 without ever having this happen - but I've never installed from CD since XP.

I'd be curious to know under what conditions this -mce thing happens. Does it happen any time you install under Win7 from CD/DVD?

I noticed this happened with my Windows 7 installation, probably because Windows Media Center is installed by default. I guess that GW installation notice it and adds the -mce option. Great if you're actually using Media Center launching GW, but I'm pretty sure the majority don't.
