Hi,
I want to purchase the Mercenary Pack from NCSoft for a friend as a gift, but when I proceed to buy it online, it asks for which account the serial code will be applied to (i.e. it has to be a linked account).
Is there no way to purchase a serial code for an account that is not yours? I want to be able to give my friend the code to use for her account.
Thanks for any help.
How to purchase an item from NCSoft (mercenary pack) for an unlinked account?

I don't think you can buy items from the online store and gift them to other players.
With Steam, for instance, I can buy a cheap game for a friend and send it to them over the internet. I've done this before, it's awesome. I don't think the guild wars store has a feature like this.

I would ask the support team here. They might have a way to pay and they give you the access key.

I'd suggest buying a card, slipping some cash in it, and mailing it to your friend.

short answer, YOU CANT.
long answer, they dont currently have this feature (peeps were asking about the same thing with costumes when they came out).
best suggestion is what ghull said--give them a card with some cash or gift credit card in it.

My boyfriend buys me shit all the time for GW. I just log into my account, go to the in-store, show him what I want and he uses his debit card. I don't know if she already made purchases on her account that may make any conflicts, but if she has, just give her the money to do it herself.

Basically, not without logging into their account.
Kojima
log into their account and buy from there.

I bought storage upgrades for my original account, and then logged into my kids accounts and bought them the same.
When I created a second account, I was unable to buy upgrades for it as my credit card was already associated with 3 accounts, and was blocked from making purchases for other accounts. I had to use a different card to make the purchases for my second account (or use PayPal).

One thing to remeber if you do this is that there is a limit to how many accounts you can buy stuff for with the same card.

I just checked my old emails... it is NCsoft accounts, rather than GW accounts, as shown below.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. If three accounts "associated" with a card is the limit, why is this information not clearly displayed in the GuildWars shopping area. I have purchased multiple upgrades for my primary account. I have purchased an upgrade for my sons account, as a birthday present. I have purchased an upgrade for my daughters account, as a birthday present. At no time during any of these transactions did I see a warning concerning the limit on the number of accounts that a card can pay for. As GuildWars incurs no recurrent billing, there seems to be nothing I can do with my current card. I see that the GuildWars shop also accepts payment by PayPal. Will I be able to make upgrade purchases that way, (considering that my PayPal account is linked to the same bank account as the debit card that is now unusable?)

Hello ****,
Thank you for contacting us!
There is currently a limit on how many different NCsoft master accounts you may associate your credit/debit card to. The maximum amount of NCsoft master accounts that are allowed to have the same credit/debit card number is three. Should you attempt to use your credit/debit card on any additional accounts, you will receive the error message, "The credit card you are attempting to use has already been used for too many accounts. You will need to use a different credit card." This limitation is in place to help alleviate any credit/debit card theft or fraud issues.
When your credit/debit card has been used on an account for activation, non-recurring billing, or an actual subscription billing, the NCsoft master account is counted as one of the three accounts. If you have used the credit/debit card on more than three accounts already, you will not be able to use that card in our system unless the card remains on recurring billing on one of your accounts. Once the credit/debit card is taken off of recurring billing, you will not be able to reuse that card on that account.
Removing the credit/debit card on any of your accounts will not release that account as one of the three. Your credit/debit card can always be used on an account as long as it is on one of the three accounts.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks,
David

I guess that having myself and both the kids as separate NCsoft logins was the problem here
