My guess is that they are still working on the anniversery update and they arent sure when they will finish, so nothing has been announced.
I wouldnt be surprised if we have Sweet Treats this weekend Fri-Sun. Then we get the Anniversery update between Tuesday and Thursday, with it lasting one to two weeks.

I'm pretty sure that being like, 12 hours late won't kill you, besides if it does you'll be the first to know. I feel like the OP is the guy at a stoplight who starts honking as soon as it turns green, doesn't even wait like a second and just lays on the horn. Its not that big of a deal. We know the event is coming. Its going to be there. It will be joyous and you will be happy. The world won't end because ANet didn't make an announcement. They got stuff to do themselves.

Maybe I'm remembering poorly but doesn't the bunny drop normally happen in late March or early April?
I seem to remember thinking it should happen during Easter in years past and it seemed odd that it was well before that.
Perhaps old age has effected my memory but I don't think this ever happened at Easter.

2007 it was April 6-8th, Easter was on the 8th.
2008 it was March 21-23rd, Easter was on the 23rd.
2009 it was April 10-12th, Easter was on the 12th.
2010 it was April 2-4th, Easter was on the 4th.

Looks like its def the 3rd year in a row now.
It does start to make you wonder tho - is the sweet treats weekend an actual event , it may be listed on wiki as an event ( and we know wiki sometimes isnt 100% correct on a few things ) but is it as its again left out of the actual event announcements.
Sad thing is - with the amount of players agreeing with me i do wish i was wrong and it was me missing announcements somehow.
Its like they say - often its the small things that matters - having an event is nice but being told there is an event ( details etc ) is more of a big thing in a weird way.
Making a joke about it - i actually wonder if the sweet treats weekend has ever been announced and if not then a long time ago someone forgot to add it - that would make me laugh.
One a side note - remember the confusion a few weeks back when anet listed an incorrect event ( think it was vq bonus and was actually a pvp event ) - now how many ppl were cought out and did vq and then got annoyed ( quite a few if you go by guru posts at the time )

my comment was about the thread moving away from the topic, i agree with the post, i think anet show a wee bit of contempt for the player base, i think they assume many will buy gw2 whatever they do or don't do with gw1

Really I have to agree with people who are saying Stop QQing and just play the game. Who cares if they didn't announce it? Im sure their busy working on better things like GW2. If their resources are spent working on Guild Wars 2 then then I would be ok with them not announcing anything at all.

Anywho common sense would have told people that it was going to be this weekend and people should have known better, but instead they ignore there common sense and bitch about it.
